"In the year 2250, the Terran Alliance invented something that would change the face of the galaxy forever. It was an invention nown as the hyperdrive, it was based on stargate technology and worked similarly to one with the exception that the destination of the ship could be anywhere. Not just another stargate.
Kind as they where they decided to share with every other highly developed civilization that they knew about in the galaxy. Us, the Altarian Republic, included. Once we had the knowledge of how to build these devices, discussions on how to use it for the best begun. Our president, Nero Mancer, finally decided that the best use of it would be to unite the galaxy in peace.
The Altarian immediatly begun working on a ship that would allow them to colonize other worlds. Once it was completed, it travelled to the planet Serenity, now a popular holiday resort, and started a colony there. Many more planets where colonized. Contact with the other civilizations that had recieved the hyperdrive was established. The Terran Alliance, the Torian Federation, The Iconions and the Arcean Empire was not really against the idea of a united galaxy. The Yor consortium and the Drengin Empire was not really so hot on the idea though.
Peace would not last long however. The Arcean Empire and us, the Altarian Republic, had their homeworlds near each other and the rapid colonzation of the few inhabitable worlds that where around created sparks of dislike, mainly on the side of the Arceans.
Everntually it errupted into a full scale war, ships to allow planetary invasion as well as ships designed to fight in the vacuum of space was rapidly built in our factories to allow us to defend ourselves. Here is a rundown of a few of the ship types that was utilized by the Altarians during the war.
The war was bloody, millions of lives where claimed. Worlds where taken and retaken but eventually the war ended with a ceasefire. We, the Altarians, never really enjoyed the war and once it became clear that the Arceans was losing they where very eager to negotiate something that could stop them.
Another reason was the greater threat that had aronsen. The Drengin Empire had started a ruthless onslought of bloody conquests, the Torians issued a call for aid as they where the first in the path of the Drengin Empire. The Altarians immediatly answeared the call and sent a big part of its fleet to attack the Drengin Empire.
The Altarian fleet fought valiantly but was eventually destroyed, the Drengin knew what they where doing and there combat technology was completly different from that of the Arceans. To counter there techonoly and new kind of ship was created.
The factories again shifted their focus upon creating warships. And after many battles in the vacuum of space and on the surfaces of planets the Torians was not that much threatened anymore. But Drengin was far from defeated and their ruthless attacks continued, now shifted against the Altarians. Even with the aid of the Terran Alliance and the Torians the was did not have a clear outcome. But eventually something unexcepcted happened, the Drengin rebelled! They removed their old leader and unexpicly announced that their new society was to focus on charity and kindness instead of war and slavery. They offered a peace treaty, and baffled as we where we accepted.
The Drengin was true to this change even if it went a but clunky at first. Our scientists designed a ship made to construct starbases, the starbases made trade alot easier by among one thing serving as trading posts. Here is some pgotography from the process of designing the ship type that built these starbases.
The peace was ended by Iconian refugees. It appers that the Yor Consortium had destroyed the effortlessly and their true motivation was their hatred of all biological life. The Yor themselves where machines created by a long dead civilization. Learning from past mistakes the Altarians immediatly analyzed Yor tech and designed ships to counter the Yor, one of the ships where the shadowstrike.
The Altarians then negotiated withe the Arcean and Drengin empire, the Torians and Terrans. They all agreed on to form and alliance to stop the Yor before it was to late for them all. Nearly all of the miltary power of the 5 civilzations was sent to the Yor.
Many battles ensured but the Yor could simply not stand up against the combined military powers of the 5 allies. Eventually the largest battle took place. On no other place then Iconia, the homeworld of the iconians.

Eventually the Altarians managed to get dropships to the surface and an incredible bloody battle ensured. The Altarians where heavily outnumbered, but their equipment was optimized for the invasion.
Eventually the Yor where defeated and Iconia no longer under their control. Minar skrimishes continued but eventually the Yor surrendered. There was much rejoicing and the alliance was not broken. The galaxy had finally been united in peace.
