Just played through that nasty deathtrap in Entanglement for the second time, this time on hard.

Since I knew they'd come in handy this time I dragged the two auto-turrets from the previous defend-yourself-waiting-for-alyx sequence.

So instead of the usual 3 turrets, I had 5 to set up. I set them up in the ammo room this time, and repelled the combine horde with flair.

Alyx shows up and we head out. After going down stairs, it hits me... hey those turrets could still be useful. So I started up to fetch them.

And you know what?

They cut me down like so much grass.

Without replaying all the way through that gun fight I am left with two untested theories.

1) After that battle the turrets revert to Combine control.
2) After going down stairs the turrets revert to Combine contorl.

The same thing happened to me, only when I went back to get them, they were gone! :O Mysteriously disappeared.

I took them with me straight away, worked a treat when u go thru the storage room where the combine turn the lights out. Dragged them all the way to the combine teleport room too.

I'd set them up (all 5) and they defended us magnificently, even after we'd entered the teleport, I was so proud of them. ;)

Crap. That clenches it. I've gotta play through the deathtrap again then. I WANT those turrets... but since I entered the next load, going back to get them from my current savepoint results in death.

I was going to start a thread on this, but considering that others have a similar problem I will just state what I was going to say in this thread...

When I got to the room with the first set of turrets in Entanglement for some reason they kept attacking me.

I have two theories for this. The first one is that I took the spear all the way to this point, and considering how unpredictable the game behaves with the spear who knows if this was the cause of the problem. The second theory is that I killed Alyx the last time I saw her in this level, but interestingly, I was able to hear her voice. I even heard her say that she had re-programmed the turrets. The problem does seem to be related to the spear but who knows? ;)

I played it through again, this time I dragged all five turrets to the teleporter room... so I had 8 to play with in there. Man was that cool watching Combine elite drop like crazy.

Yeah, it is possible to get eight at the end. Hella fun too :P

It's a crying shame you can't teleport them to Kliener's lab though.

gotta wonder where those things get their bullets from, a technology gordon could sure use eh?

I was thinking of using(again) them too after the 2nd turret battle. good thing I didn't.

Gotta be something along the lines of the tau and gauz cannons... just has a better charging system.

1) There's no "and." The tau is the gauss.
2) The gauss still uses ammo.

Quite obviously, the turrets and mounted guns have infinite ammo because it would suck for them not to.

well, they are using energy based weapon(pulsar). no wonder they have infinite ammo.

except that they shoot bullets- not pulse charges or whatever the hell the dropships and gunships shoot at you are called.

it doesn't really matter, cos if you want to nitpick about that then you could ask yourself how gordon carries around the arsenal of an entire army on his back and can still sprint and jump.

im glad they have infinite ammo. woulda been screwed without them

Hmm... maybe the HEV has a special feature that can accomodate all those weapons.

The right thigh of the suit is equipped with an Quatum Ark Storage Singularity Envelope (QASSE, pronounced "case"). It's the same technology that allowed Noah to store all those animals on such a small Ark. Essentially a singularity anchored to a storage room located elsewhere is stored in the QASSE.

The weapon display you see in the H.U.D. isn't just a gameplay convention. It's actually what Gordon sees. When he needs a weapon, he selects it from the inventory, a robotic arm called "the butler" then grabs the appropriate weapon and pushes it to the QASSE.

that butler sounds pretty disturbing....

think Gordon would misuse it?

Shove Breen into the QASSE if he is getting on you nerves
