How should I begin?
Well The thing is that, I (me), haven't written anything in a long time, that kind of bothers me. Allot. So I just decided that I was going to write something. The thing is that, I don't know what to write.

This Half life universe that Valve supposedly made up ten years ago, in there secrets, hidden Lab, Yeah, that universe. What's so special about it, what makes us people gather together in this online forum too discuss seemingly 'original' theories and ideas that makes absolutely no sense at all and makes absolutely no difference?

What makes us enjoy this wonderful game that much? What differed it from other FPS games? I honestly don't know. In my opinion, this is the worlds best game, but as mentioned thousands and thousands of times, in this forum and in other, is that my opinion means exactly jack shit. What's so special about it? I want everything written down. Why? You ask. So I can show it to my retarded Swed friend, so that they can understand. Understand why this game sits on all other games. Half life is the game that pushes the other games so that can't get up. Just being there, unable to do anything...

But wait, what's the point then? If nobodies opinion means anything, why do we continue, why do we continue too write, why do we continue to tell, to express, to feel. Why?...Oh shit, I just bitch slapped my thread...anyway, write people, WRITE TO ALL OF YOUR MIGHT, (Don't blame me, I just saw all three matrix movies in one day)

Half-Life does something wonderful with its story. Something that other games fail to do so utterly. It remains ambiguous. Who the hell is the g-man and why is he doing this? You don't know; he's a mysterious entity with his own agenda. This makes the story interesting. It makes you want to find out more and want to know how everything is connected. Good storytelling makes you want to know more about the story. It makes every new revelation fill your mind with new questions.

In HL1 you are told nothing about the story explicitly. Nothing is laid out for you to find. But the story is there for you to discover. You don't get told at any point that the aliens are pissed off at us because we've been messing with and kidnapping them for ages, but it is implied and there for you to comprehend. The wonder of the HL story is in that it is not told, but left scattered across the games for you to find.

I like Lovecraftian games which wank about human capability. What's wrong with that?

Yup, I think it's all about the story, how it's hidden within the game and not, as riomhaire said, explicitly laid out, that and the way they suddenly take something that at some point seemed insignificant and give it some weight, if even small, in the whole picture.

By the way, I don't think HL is TEH best game saga ever, just happen to like it and play it once in a while.

The universe is interesting with a story wierd enough to sound realistic, and some good mysteries left to solve.

It nails everything down perfectly, and then adds some new gameplay elements to the experience. Tossing a chair at an enemy isn't just an improvement over what other games do, it's completely unrivaled. Storming a prison with a pack of bugs, fighting 30 foot tall striders, it's all brilliant.

PS: Lose the irritating font.

Thank you guys for writing without flaming me for no reason at all. And thanks for showing respect...keep talking.
