The library: Hoppers against Turrets?

I'm in the last area of the library, only one problem. There are lasers that trigger the overhead turrets.

I've destryed the hoppers with the munipulator so I can go through the room unnoticed, only one problem. the door at the far side of the room is blocked entirely with these lasers that triggers the turrets.

I have no explosives on me and so have to resort with the orbs on the pulse rifle to take them down but constantly die.

Should I of used the hoppers against the turrets or is there another way around this?

There is a button in that end of the room that turns the lasers off. I noticed it by accident when I came into that part of the room.
