When Father Gregory tells you that he is going to lead you to the mines, what do you think he's talking about? It sounds like a pretty interesting location...perhaps you are to tunnel under the citadel? When we saw the 'shots that those students from Albania or whatever took, one monitor clearly showed a location that looked like the inside of this inspiring fortress.

Also, Pendragon, stay the hell out of my thread.

have you got a link to the pic that looks like the inside of the fortress?

I'd guess that the shots from that ATI shots on their website of the antlion in the cave might be what he is talking about, but I'm not even sure if thats part of the game.

thank god, a noob that actualy has some good ideas...

EVERY ONE QUIT FIGHTING! ... Cant you see its tearing us apart...

I sure the mines is the nesting ground for the headcrabs and possibly the antlions...

one thing I've been wondering is...

do you think Gonarch and the headcrabs were actually part of nihilanth's forces(or atleast under his influence...like a pet dog or something) or were they simply indigenous lifeforms on Xen?

and what about the antlions are they from Xen? notice that the mouth of the antlions looks similar to one of the race X species(the one that spits poison quells(sp?))...so are they perhaps Race X or are they an entirely new side in the conflict.

when you think about it we have 10 partys in HL2:

headcrabs + zombies: plays the same role as in HL1

Antlions: unknown specie, that doesn't seem have allies or neutral relations e.g. attack everything in sight.

Vortigaunts:freed slaves and now apparently allies of the resistance and the BMRF-team

Alien Combine: e.g. Striders and the alien gunship(and I'm sure there will be others) these seems to be a new species of bio mechanical creatures. they are allied with the more tech orientated "Human combine" and I would imagine they are actually representing the new alien specie that either influence or control "the humam combine"

Human Combine: e.g. Metrocops, APC's and the mechanical Chopper. these seems to be humans that for some reason or another is allied with the new alien specie. they seem to be more tech orientated than their alien counter part, though my guess is that they're inferior to "the alien combine"

Black Mesa Research Facility personal: Eli Vance, Alyx Vance, dr. Mossmann, Kleiner and depending on the circumstances also Barney Calhoun.(and possibly others) they have moved to city17 were they conduct research that I would imagine should help them sort out the mess/ fight the combine. they're allied with the city17 resistance force and possibly is the leading force behind the resistance(it would makes sense atleast since they would have more insight into what's going on, being present at the BMRF-incident and all) also this will probably be Gordon's main associates.

City17 resistance force: the resistance seems to be the city17 populace(and whoever have been transferred to city17) that have taken up arms and fighting the combine, backed by the BMRF-team.

Father Gregori: wether or not he is directly affiliated with any of the others is unsure. but he's an allie. his primary concern seems to be the headcrab/zombie infestation in and around Ravenholm(which I assume is were his home/church is located) he seems to be living outside the controlled areas of city17(he's not wearing a city17 jumpsuit like the rest)

Dr. Breen: the administrator of city17. wether this means he's the administrator reffered to during HL1 is uncertain(but I actually doubt it). not much is know about Breen and there are many possible scenarios. he might be head of the security force(The human combine atleast) or maybe he's an ambassador for city17 "welcoming" the combine or doing their bidding to avoid getting himself and the rest of the citizens obliterated. whatever the case might be, when he mentions his "benefactors" I always get the feeling that they're more "Superiors" than "benefactors"(y'know sort of like when a thug is considered a benefactor/merciful when he descides not to punch your face in when robbing your blind(as long as you comply))

the G-man: the big G, the big ?
G-man seems to have grown even more sinister than in the previous games. "wake up and smell the ashes" doesn't bode well. is he evil? is he good? they clearly want us to think that he's evil but maybe he'll surprise us?(misunderstood servant of the people anyways Gordon "accepted" G's offer of employment what that leads to we have yet to see. I wonder if Gordon's rise against the combine is actually G's plan. he definitly seems to be pulling a lot of strings...and I think that ultimately he has an ulterior agenda for himself, even though he mentions his employers(the administartor? Breen?) I've always had the feeling that G was working behind their backs aswell. their is also something disturbing about Nihilanth's last lines and G speech pattern. is he human? and if not what then?

what do you think?(btw this is vers 1 of this I might polish it up some)

Well one of the Valve employees (Gabe I think) said the G-Man was not an alien when he was asked a question about whether or not he was human... sounds like avoided the question a little. My new pet theory is that he's a robot/cyborg ;)

i think the Ant Lions are more like the wildlife of xen and have inhabited earth. the pic of the ant lion in the cave i believe wont be the mines. i think the mines will be a seperate chapter that allows gordon to get back to city 17. perhaps the cave with the ant lion is under the beach because thats where they keep popping out of the sand.
