Hi there, everyone. I'm a noob here and I was just wondering if anyone may have the original HL2 videos. I remember two different kinds in particular. The first set being the original Bink videos where you're fighting to combine in the Ravenholm area, and the second are teh earliest I seen. I remember a guy talking about how the world of Half-Life 2 is 'very dynamic' and as he was entering a structure in the game, suddenly the ground started to raise up and inside the building he was destroying some wooden planks. Anybody remember that one? I know it's kind of a vague description, but hopefully someone remembers and can point me out where to find them. Thanks for reading. :afro:

Dang, I never even thought about GameTrailers. Although, it doesn't seem to be loading for me at the moment. Hopefully, it will soon.

I really wish some of those had actually been used in the final version of the game...

Considering there's nothing better about them. That Strider vid is pretty poor compared to say, the Nexus courtyard. Those sections were cut because they didn't play as well as the other stuff, not because they were awesome and Valve felt the need to spite the community. It's pretty much a guarantee that if you played these bits, you'd come out feeling a little bummed.

Me too, I loved the firefights in the city, esspecially with the Striders.

Did you skip Follow Freeman.

I'm referring to the part from the Bink videos where he's in the city and the Strider comes busting out through that building. It was just a really cool part that I think would have been neat to have in the game. I think it would have helped to further engross you into the hunt that the Combine has set out upon you.

I agree with Mr. Namek.

I disagree that the one video where Gordon was in what ended up being Ravenholm (I think, the one with him blowing the house down to kill the combine) would have been pretty amazing. Also, I wish they would have stuck with the original rifle.

Yeah the bink video where the strider ducks under that building walkway...that whole clip was so bad ass...when I got to Follow Freeman, I remember watching every possible rendition of that archway to keep an eye out for striders...

How about the gateway clip where Barney says "Remember when we thought Black Mesa was as bad as it got?"

I wouldve loved that. Its one of the few connections between HL and HL2...

I did the same thing.

Not to say that Follow Freeman was a let-down, it was arguably my favorite part of HL2, but yeah, the strider's would have been a great touch...

Damn that's some pretty good stuff in the Bink videos. Wonder if Valve will ever release a special DVD pack of HL2 with all the cut parts.

It would have been interesting to see that blue tenticle thingy in the game also

What I remember was that ingame, if you followed the Bink videos, you'd often get an unpleasent surprise. Like in Nova Prospekt, if you go to where in the Bink videos the player went, instead of a hole in the wall there will be a poison zombie lurking behind a couple of laundrey trolleys.

The cut content is slowly appearing in the Episodes.

Anyways, I prefer the regular Half-Life 2 to the E3 clips, mainly because the experience is more streamlined. I believe the "Remember when we thought..." line was cut, because gordon doesn't come into interaction with Barney in the game at all, except for the initial tram ride.

Moreover, the presentation levels seem to be a little choppy, one instance in which I would like a level to be slightly altered, was the coast presentation, where there is a marooned nuclear submarine and a battleship in the distance, and the combine razor train bridge looms overhead.

Second, the M29/M8 OICW does not fit into the setting, slacker. It's a man-made weapon, less powerful and more bulky than the Overwatch Standard Issue. Additionally, the OSI fits the Combine better, because it's made of the same bluish alloy the Citadel and other structures are made of. Finally, it's slightly alien feel is way better than the OICW.

Last, it's more versatile. The stationary pulse turrets are just a belt-fed, heavy barrel version of the pulse rifle, without the Orb Launcher.

Don't forget the manned turrets, APC and hunter-chopper turrets. They all have a slight bit of difference.

I see nothing good about it. Besides, I'm pretty sure if you'd played it you'd think alot differently about it.

The OICW was a rather dull weapon, and the project was cut in real-life. It's just one of those things were you see it, and want to play it. But playing it is en entirely different case.

The door in ravenholm from the E3 2003 video still makes me cry though.

Mis-representation at its best.

(the table against the door thing)

I noticed that doors don't get stuck on objects. Well, don't get stuck on most objects. Don't they move them out of the way? Doors have, like, infinite force.

Notice how there was no soldiers so it wouldn't have made a difference.

Zombies can't open doors. (I think)

But it's good to see alot of the old stuff coming out on the EPIs. Valve aren't waisting their good work.

Howeve,r having put the Missing Information beta soldier skins in my Half-Life 2, I must say, that they are overall better than the current ones, though this is my personal opinion. The presence of the Combine emblem on their backs, as well as numerical designations of the units on the arm pads are sweet!

Though the Civil Protection is better nowadays. More menacing.

Or how in Follow Freeman, you turn that one corner and find a locked door instead of a Hydra :P

Ah, I forgot that's where the player goes in the video! That's a nice touch.

Ya I agree

Personally I think the combination of the zombies and combine in ravenholm was awesome in the trailer, just to show how interactive the environment was at the time. Another favorite clip of mine was the one on the docks, wicked cool!
