I've read interviews about the releasing of the Half Life 2 and Episodes etc.

They said that because of Half Life 2 taking so long to come out that it would be better for everyone that they came out in Episode format etc... That they didnt want to spend another six years for Half Life 3 (aka Episode 1-2-3).

But the thing is, it would have been only 3 years. Half Life 2 came out in 2004. Episode 1 came out in 2006. That's 2 years. Episode 2 and 3 will come out in 2007. When all 3 episodes are out, it would have been 3 years... so why didnt they just combine them all and release it as Half Life 3 for late 2007, early 2008? 3-4 years isnt that bad. So I dont get why they would say it would take 6 years when obviously it would only be about 3 years.

Do you know what I mean?

because vavle would get more ideas in releasing 3-4hr games instead of a full blown game. thats why valve is such a great company; they acctually listen to thier customers.

Yeah, I was also looking forward to HL3's graphics to be amazing. Though it is an excellent storyline, the graphics are the same, which makes the games feel more like expansions than a new game.

i think of it more as an extension then expansion since your not really expanding on the game but just finishing the story.

Wait wait wait

I always thought HL2 Episodes != Half-Life 3 and was more of a link between the games (after all, Episode 1 replaced the original idea of an expansion, right?). The way it sounds here, HL2 episodes are Half-Life 3.

The things is episodes does not equal Half Life 3. That was a marketing strategy to attract attention prior to release of ep1. Valve would never make HL3 without a new engine and a huge advertasing campaign. Episodes=Half Life 2 Expansion=Aftermath.

That's all imho.

Smaler delays between releasing games = more happy customers = more money :bounce:. The math is simple. Anyway I like the episode idea, i want the hl story, not the graphics themselves. Even now lots of games can't even compete with HALF-LIFE (the first one, if i was misunderstood) :rolling:
