I was replaying the beginning of hl2, and something occured to me during the teleport sequence. Some think that Lamarr jumping into the teleport caused the teleport to malfunction, but I think it was coincidental. What if the gman caused the disruption? Because the large-scale war wouldn't have occured if Gordon had been teleported to Eli's lab.
Eli was even planning for Gordon to come back to his scientific roots when he said "we'll get you out of that suit and into your lab coat where you belong" (this was in another thread too). But it seems the gman knows Gordon's strengths better than anyone. This makes sense to me, I could just be plain wrong though.
