maybe i have solved the mystery of g-man, but i need to know few things:
i have played just half-life 2, and the begining of hl 1. i have seen something there, that made me thing about the theory.

but here is my question:

Does G-man appear to gordon just in his mind? or did they meet fysically?

Outside of stasis, or the Gman's "world" I don't believe they have talked face to face. But the Gman has been spoted interacting with others in our world. The scientist in HL1, Odessa Cubbage in HL2.

so they didnt really fysically meet?
ok, here is my theory:
What if G-man is dead? he was at black messa building at the time of colision, and the room i saw him in was destroyed after that "incident". maybe he died, and thats why he can talk to gordon in his mind... he is kind a spirit.
and that would also solve the rumour about his brief case. maybe there are just some papers... but he was holding it when he possibly died, so thats why we dont see him without it.

what do you say?

sorry for bad english.

But that wouldnt explain interacting with Odessa, telling him god knows what...

Or the vortigaunts stopping him. Or Shepard and Barney sharing this hallucination. And also it's a stupid idea and would be a slap in the face to the fans.

I hope you're being sarcastic, Bear.

They've talked face-to-face in the real world, at the end of Half-Life.

He couldn't be a spirit because of not only how he interacts with other characters, but how he interacts with the world. A spirit couldn't arm a nuclear warhead, for example. A spirit that's just in Gordon's mind also couldn't pull him away from danger, no matter how powerful it is.

G-man might mess with Gordon's head, might make him hallucinate and see things, but he's a physical being, alive as any.

I hope you're being sarcastic, Bear.

I've been here since Nov of '04...i've heard the g-man = gordon theory once or twice...but I guess sarcasm marks are in call

*sarcasm* what if the hunters are actually synth'd alyx's!!! *sarcasm*

I haven`t completed HL2, so I really don`t know. But I have two theories;
1. G-man is the allmighty one, trying to stop Gordon (who maybe is "satan") from doing what WE think is the right thing to do, but in reality (in the game, huh) is destroying the world. Or something.
2. G-man can control time and space and is Gordons "little helper".

Maybe those theories are stupid, but... (uh-oh, seems like I`m outta time)

Another thing: Is it a 100% sure there is any HL3?

not exactly...the episodes are technically hl3 but i don't think there's much hope for an actual game titled Half-Life 3

A spirit? No. The science theme is very strong in Half-Life, not supernatural crud like ghosts...

oh, well... i have played hl1 further today.
and i noticed g-man more times that i would like to..
first time just before incident, in the room that crashed aftr the incident.
second time in the anomalous materials chapter, when facing two of those little things throwing those blue soundblasts. right after the part when the scientist is pulled into the trap, you can see the g-man up on the platform above you.
and the last time after the elevator part, you see the scientist jumping trough the window and running away. when you kill two zombies, follow the way, the scientist ran, and there are closed doors:

g-man.jpg

you can see him manipulating with his tie.

No disrespect, but that game has been out for eight years, trust me; We know about g-man in HL1.

Its obviously a gimmick idea by the HL creators.

Nudge to the covert stuff that goes on in the real world. Men in suits pulling the strings behind the scenes.

VORTESSENCE

Just thought I'd throw that out there. :p The spirit idea is still bollocks though. Sorry Kanuch.

Call me John
and ok, i believe you now
i did not mean a spirit like you see in some doorways, but the one tolking to you in your mind.
never mind, it seems like WRONG theory, because he appeared in the game many times, but I didnt know about it.

maybe even valve doesnt know anything about g-man, they have given him into the game just to make it interesting...

I think someone from valve once said that, much like the creators of lost, there are some important elements of the story that they are maknig up as they go along. maybe there is no real explanation for Gman at all yet.

sorry to say, but I dont think that room crashed. it was still locked with bullet proof glass and you see a scientist inside fighting a headcrab. he kills it by pushing a filing cabinet on it but then as hes celebrating one or two jump on his sciencey ass.

heres my theory on the Gman.

he is harry potter from the future.

thank you for your time.

Why do you spell physical with an F? This disturbs me on a profound level.

No, I'm sure he means a pro found his level.

Well, while these can be considered an easter egg, there are several spirity moments in HL (apart from Vortisessence).
1) Before you enter the red portal to Nihilanth's chamber, there is some playback of scientists + security guards.
2) The playground in HL2.
3) In Lowlife there is some fa-distant crying (though this could be some survivors or even from the surface above).

Yeah those are a bit 'othersome', but they're IMO more artistic license than intentional allusions to the supernatural...

I remember hearing somewhere that this was through other open portals or something. Maybe not.

The playground was the most creepy, to my mind.

Didn't you notice the sounds of little children in the playground?

so they didnt really fysically meet?

1. Who the hell's Odessa?
2. This would not be possible because in HL 1 we see him on a train cart in "Black Mesa Inbound".
3. *He is a kind of spirit*.
4. What kind of scientist or worker or henchman, whatever, wears a stunning suit? I think Gordon's just on drugs, and halucinates him... That would explain the physical reaction and G-man's speches with the stoner looking backgrounds, but it wouldn't explain Gordon's 'stasis'. And for this to be true; Barney, and Adrian would also have to be on crack!

He gives you the Rocket Launcher.

Ohhh
No, i never saw Gman with him... Oh right colonel cubbage! Duh!

1. Jintor answered who he is, but you see him with Odessa if you look through the Combine binoculars in that little house on the coast. You know, the one near the thumper.

3. Negative.

4. He's not a scientist or a laborer or a henchman. He's one of Dr. Breen's men that the scientists in HL1 mention. He works for Black Mesa. It's my belief that he's a liaison to the administrator, making reports and such, and thus he wears a snappy suit.

I knew he wasn't a worker... But if he's with doctor Breen, then why (at the end of HL2) does he say that:
"you've done a great deal in a small time span..." and some stuff about how his 'employers' wish for his services once again... To me it insinuates that Gordon was supposed to kill Breen (or destroy the citadael).

But i knew he was associated with BM because of his suit case.
