I've been playing many more custom maps lately and too many times I throw a grenade in the air (I didn't even use the manipulator) and see it bounce off. Some servers like to add a low grav setting or prop that makes them bounce only to have players hit their head hard on an invisible ceiling (I have died from this.) To mappers I say...Stop making the skybox so low, the sky is falling!

higher sky- larger map= longer compile, shittier preformance

but still a nade must make a nice curve, not hitting anything when thrown up- but thats it: you dont want 100m tall maps, trust me

Whats the point of adding an anti-gravity prop if people die hitting their head on the sky? Team Fortress and the first Unreal Tournament was able to support a sky that seemed to stretch...well to the sky so why can't HL2? It doesn't even have any animations.

because they are made by differant teams and they use differant editors

As much as I'd like HL2 to support larger maps it aint going to happen.

Damn steam.

How has that got anything to do with Steam?!

Because it is an incredibly broad and easily blamable platform that a large amount of people seem to dislike so by blaming it you create an outlet for your frustration at valve and half life 2's makers without angering anyone by blaming the same group of people who made the wonderful game that we all love.

UT is on a completely different engine, is why, with different capabilities and limitations.
