Train to Nova Prospekt

When you first arrive at the trainstaion in city 17 there is a train on another platform that is signed as going to Nova Prospekt, presumably transfering anti-citizens to the jail. However, when you get to Nova Prospekt the jail is deserted apart from the Combine, i.e. no prisoners. Has something happened in the intervening time period that has allowed the prisoners to escape or have they all been taken to the citadel to be vaporised? Maybe its a little error in the story.

No... they dont put citizens to jail. they turn them to Combine Soldeir and Elite. Other's that are weak are turned to Stalkers.

I dont think the combine used the cells. They used those capsules instead. And somewhere in the game there is one that says that Nova prospekt was an old prison that was in use before the combine invaded.

The train takes them to nova prospekt, its not to put them in jail either, its to turn them into soldiers and if theyre weak stalkers. In pods too.

Nova prospekt is basically eating away the jail. The jail must have good access routes to the Citadel if the combine wanted to place Nova Prospekt there. (Nova Prospekt is that massive combine structure full of the pods after you leave the jail and almost get eaten by the combine walls)

And yes, before you arrive in Nova Prospekt, there's an antlion invasion too, responsible for why fewer Combine are there than normally.

Nope, the teleports are for combine transport, not for prisoners. Nova Prospekt is an old prison used for changing people to either Combine Soldiers or Stalkers depending on constitution.

I'd rather say that citizens were turned into stalkers or soldiers, depends if they were healthy or not.

Actually Nova Prospekt once was a jail. If you start the beginning of Highway-17 chapter and hear what Alyx tells you to go. She tells you to go to Nova Prospekt. While she's talking to Freeman she mentions that Nova Prospekt is no longer a just normal prison.

Which means Nova Prospekt was once used as a prison with cells filled with citizens, and now they are turning citizens into either a overwatchers or stalkers. This probably explains why the entire cells in Nova Prospekt are all empty.

Once when the citizens are turned into either overwatchers or stalkers, they are sent to the train bound to the Citadel.

This is my 50 cents guess.

well, some of them are left in Nova Prospekt to be turned to Nova Propekt guards.
