I find it harmlessly fun, but has anyone else, whilst playing HL2, set up objects and barrels in specific areas like doorways so that it takes a while for important AI chracters like Kleiner and Mossman to be able to move past it? It's fun stuff, and I highly recommend it.

IS GOOD THREAD!

I've tried such antics. They usually end up messing up the scrips for me, doing silly things like creating a new npc because the original wasnt at its marks on time, or just not allowing me to go past certain points due to the lack of advancement on the npc's behalf, so I dont really do it any more. now enemies.. that way more fun, block them, and lay a nade, and watch teh fun :)

Yeah, I try that, but I can never seem to find the main spawning point of the enemy quick enough before they start coming out and attacking me. Is there a console code to temporarily turn off AI, or perhaps spawn barrels (non-explosive)?

You can use 'ai_disable 1' to freeze the AI in their idle positions, or 'notarget' to stop AI from seeing you.

Just a question. How do you spawn inanimate objects? I mean, I know how to spawn NPCs, but I wanted to have a little fun with objects.

there are ways to do it via console ( i dont know off the top of my head what they are anymore. ) but Garry's mod is the best way to do it. You can still download the latest version of 9 for free. You might have to do a bit of searching the web though. File front probably still has it.
