trouble loading halflife PLEASE GIVE SUGGESTIONS!!!!

i have halflife 2 on cds i try to load it or play it in otherwords and i keep 2 diffrent messages at diffrent times during attempts the 1st is (SOURCE WARNING) Only one instance of the game can be played at once????? game aint playing dont know what that means the second one is half life 2 is currently unavailable how is that if disc one is in my cd drive IF NE ONE CAN PLEASE GIVE ME A SOLUTION I HAVE BEEN AT THIS FOR 141/2 HOURS TOT JUST TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK NE THING IS HELPFUL \

are you serious? 14 1/2 hours?

well the first message (if i remember correctly) is that you are trying to install it when the install is already running...just stop any instance of the game, start all over, and go do something else, like go to sleep or watch TV for a few hours...atleast thats what i did with BF2:SF...but hell if someone else has something better post it!

u dont need that disc to play hl2 but did u try restarting steam or validating
