i just bought Half-Life 1 for the PC (don't worry, i did play it through long ago on PC and again more recently on the PS2, so i'm not a HL noob or anything), and i am having a little problem with it. well, not with HL, but with OpFor.

1. i just started a game and whenever i get to a certain part, i become frozen in place, and the the sound endlessly skips (like it is frozen). i can still look around, change weapons and even shoot weapons while frozen, and when i press forward to run or if i press jump, it makes a sound as if i am doing this.. but i'm not. when I press esc and go to 'quit', the game just goes to the title picture and freezes completely. at that point, it wont let me alt-tab or anything to get back to my desktop. one time it let me ctrl-alt-del to exit it, but the second time that didn't work and i had to just shut my computer off. it is pissing me off because i have been wanting to play OpFor for a long time and now it's all messed up. has anyone had a similar problem or know how to fix this?

2. additional question: i also want to play the older multiplayer games that i missed out on long ago like DoD and TFC and some of the HL1 third party mods, but when i go to find server, not a single one comes up. is that because no one is playing them anymore, or is it something else?

Are you using steam for all these games? Because i can assure you a helluva lot of people still play DOD and CS, TFC gets its fair share still too. Check your server filters.

Of course i am using steam. I'll try the server filter thing. But what's wrong with my OpFor? Anyone know?

Oh and about the server thing, after searching it says in the server window "Could not connect to master server to retreive servers" or something like that. What is wrong with it?

Hmm. That means Steam can't connect with one of the major servers that list the actual game servers. So something is prohibiting Steam from accessing the internet through a certain port (27015 I know of, there are some others too)
