im talking about bullets made out of energy, like the combine use energy to make solid force field barriers, why not if they can use the same technology in the pulse rifles to make mini force fields the shape of bullets? the orbs are like batteries, thats why they are small and not shaped like normal machine gun clips. this is just my theory anway!

the sound is just the energy bullets breaking the sound barrier or something.

so, anyone notice that the gun on the cart is much less powerful then the orgininal in HL1? It can't take down a gunship, and fails to bounce off walls/go thru them, even when powered up.

I remember being able to take down the apache and osprey with the original. Kinda sad, wanted to take down the gunship with my turst gau gun

It is less powerful, but it also has infinite ammo and doesn't explode in your face if you charge it too much.
I'd call that a good trade. :P

And there were more than one of each prototype gun. Remember, you can pick up a shiny new tau and egon when you suit up to go to Xen.

You would? The Tau cannon's massive damage was pretty much the only reason why I used it over the MP5/M16, magnum, or shotgun in the original. Without that killing oomph, I don't really see a role for the Tau.

How true. There's even a hornet launcher in there. I wonder where they got that. Another 'survey mission?'

I wonder...what ever happened to the Egon/Gluon gun? You never hear mention of it again, despite the fact that it would have been most helpful in certain segments of the game (cue ravenholm, anticitizen 1, nova prospekt, amongst others...)

I thought that the amount of weapons for Half-Life 2 was pretty decent. In part one, I never used a good chunk of the weapons anyway. I mean those trip mines, I don't understand why they were a usable item. Its only "real" use was to skip parts of the game by jumping on them and stuff. Also those little explosive creature things, I never used those. That big alien arm was another weapon I never used. And I rarely used that "experimental" cannon thing.

Yep, I would. :P
Once I get the hivehand, I use it more than any other gun. Same with the Shock Roach in OP4. Infinite ammo means infinite damage, and I can save the other guns like the tau for special occasions like taking out 'copters.

In HL2, the tau doesn't even have a recharge time like the roach and hand do. It's insanely good against almost anything.
