Uniforme tyranny, anyone?

Recently, my school has brought in a three strikes system for uniform breaches.

Three strikes = detention after school
Six strikes = isolation (spend all day in a corridor doing work)
Nine strikes = suspention

Given that these can be issued for things like having your top button undone, having a coloured hair grip in, not wearing the fleece etc., this system strikes me as kind of stupid. I'm not even against uniform in principal; I think it actually does reduce bullying and stress, but there is such a thing as too far. The idea of someone being suspended simply for consistently wearing coloured hair grips just sounds over the top to me. I know it's stupid to try to act like a rebel or a martyr or to be needlessly stubborn about it, but suspention is a stupid way to deal with it. Before anyone asks, I don't go to a strict Catholic school or a private school or anything. I don't even have any other real problems with my school except this, which I'll probably just get used to anyway.

So anyways... I know I'm not the only one, so if anyone else is annoyed by uniform at school or work, post here. I don't really mind if this turns into a general argument about something; this forum needs discussions. Feel free to flame me for over-reacting if that's what I deserve.

Originally I was just going to say your school sucks, but then I recalled I went to a Catholic school for a few months of 1st grade. This girl I had a crush on for some reason appeared one day out of uniform, and she cried and cried. ):

I felt bad. Oh well.

I agree with uniforms but your school's scrictness is insane. Well, actually a while ago our school had a thing that if you don't wear your jumper in the hallways you can get in trouble, but I walk around without it on all the time and no one cares.

Yeah, strict Catholic schools are t3h sux. I don't get why they're always so much stricter than normal schools though. I mean, there's nothing in the Bible about wearing school uniform, is there? I doubt anyone would cry at my school for something like that, the atmosphere just isn't as harsh as that.

That must really suck dude, my friend actually goes to a catholic school and almost got expelled for tripping a girl in a hallway by accident. They don't play around.

I have a uniform, but I like dressing like a nerd, however, it often gets uncomfortable. Only 61 more days of it left though. :)

Uniforms sucks, I despise them

but strike six sounds like a VERY LOW punishment, I'd take that any day

Don't worry, it won't work. Back in High School, the departments used to bring in all these rules about uniform but in the end it just became too much to handle. Trying to keep a track of hundreds of kids with their coat on indoors, or their shirt untucked, just becomes far too overwhelming.

My sixth form recently said to us that we need to wear smart clothes to college, and I am constantly reminded that wearing 3/4 lenghts to sixth form will get me thrown out (regardless of the fact that I bike to school and work better in 3/4 lenghts - don't ask) but they don't do **** all about either.
