Unknown item in HL2...

There is an item in the game that looks kinda like a grenade and it has some orange around it. The icon for it when you try to pick it up looks almost like a stethascope. You can only cary 1 of them.

I think you mean the Pheropod/Bugbait, you use it in the later levels of the game to call for Antlions to assist you.

No, he means the i-rifle's secondary fire, it fires a small energy ball that bounces around and kills.
