I am going to go somewhere for a few weeks and i wanted to be able to play hl2 there (I am leaving my pc behind), My question is, if I simply login to steam would I be able to play hl2? or would I have to install it?
How would I go about this without getting my account disabled?
Also does this violate any valve rules? I dont want my account to go bye-bye

p.s. sorry if this is the wrong forum

You are aloud to do this, in fact you could techincally install steam and play half life anywhre.

however, you'd have to download the entire thing on each computer.

to make life easyer, it is possible to burn a copy of most of the steam crap on to cds, and just use that first instead of the net. if you go to the main steam website, their help section has a lot of good info for this.

yeah what he said but you spell 'aloud' 'allowed' why do so many people get that mixed up?

If you have retail, install the dvd/cds and log into your account. Otherwise burn the .gcfs onto a dvd for a quick start.

Btw this is the right forum, and well done for working out you just need to log in elsewhere, it seems alot of people think you need to register the game again  There are some clever people out there thank god!

[BLATANT SARCASM]What? You mean you DON'T Have to register the game? I didn't think you were Aloud (<-- See what I did there?) To do that! :O. Now what can I do with these 10 copies of the game I have registered to the 10 different computers?[/BLATANT SARCASM]

:p

The human brain is most capable of reading between the lines of text that I type on the screen. If you can't understand me because of my spelling, then your grasp of our language is subpar, and I pity you. :P

Granted, I should take better care in checking my spelling, I don't want to be taken as lazy. But surely it is nothing to get anal about. Besides, why care about such a silly thing anyway, especially when the words are so similar to begin with? ;)

Indeed similar, but meaning wise worlds apart, a potentially lethal mistake on the battle field, i was there this time, but i can't be with you all the way...i can show you the door, but you must walk through it remeber?

I'll let the mistake go THIS TIME, but this time only, you know the rules :)

Glad to clear that up kommie...beware the path ahead is a treacherous and dangerous one, trust nobody and you will prevail.
(i need sleep :x )
