I'm not sure how many times i've played through hl2. However this time I decided that i would keep my eyes peeled for anything. When playing water hazard, i noticed that due to all the racing around I've never really stopped to look for secrets.

For example when the 1st dropship is unloading 2 metrocops, immediately to the right of them us an open tunnel. Grab a barrel to give you a boost and take a look inside, its a neat little cave with a surprise

There are other parts in water hazard where powerups are stuffed away in areas most people ignore. Especially during the heli chase.

I'm guessing this holds true for the rest of the game. So if you plan on playing the game through again, do not take your surroundings for granted, explore every nook and cranny. You'll be surprised at what you may have missed before.

There's also a cave after the Helicopter fight in Water Hazard that contains a jabbering Vortigaunt.

I'm confident that in the 4 or so time i've played, I've seen just about everything. That "1st dropship is unloading 2 metrocops, immediately to the right of them us an open tunnel" one is one that I was excited to find on the second time through. It's always cool when you find a new secret :)

And don't forget G-Man sightings! See if you can find all 13

Yes, that vortigaunt is an easter egg, I believe, although I can't make out that much of what he was saying. Probably just bullocks. I'm not that good with english. :/

Rubbish Easter Egg though, his vocab is the same as the Vortigaunt who mounts the anti-helicopter gun for you earlier on in the level.

Because they're two different vorts? :|

Unless you were being sarcastic :O

heh now that we're on the subject of subtle details...

I've played thru the game 3 times or so...but just recently I noticed a couple of things in the kleiner lab scene I hadn't noticed before...for example when you get warped to the beach with lamaar, when you're warped back to the lab in lamaar's place is one of the crows that he/she were chasing(just sitting there on the floor)

although I'm pretty sure someone must have pointed this out before I didn't notice untill recently that the locklet(sp?) that alyx is wearing around her neck, belong(ed) to her mother(I know people have asked the question about it)...in black mesa east(I think) you see a family picture of Dr. Eli, Alyx and her mother...and her mother have the locklet around the her neck. I really like the subtle details like these that Valve put into the game...

If i remember right that locket looks very similar to some kind of symbol for something....can't remember, but i think, i THINK it was Pandora's Box

interesting, the airboat canals, or ROUTE canal?

I remember the cave next to those 2 metrocops from the dropship had a skull inside

What's exactly in it? A picture would be nice :)

its a surprise, not a big surprise mind you, but a surprise.

If i told you what it was, it wouldn't be a surprise. Needless to say it does include one of the 5 water hazard skulls

If you listen carefully to Eli in BME he says Alyx's mother's name ;)

At the top of the citadel, there's a secret passage that leads toward a vortigaunt and out to the other side of the reactor.
