Vendetta Source is set in the 17th Century with Pirates and Ships and Guns and lots of lovely loot!

The game is set in different locations varying from England, to France and also Spain. Yes this means battles may occur in the Sunny Spain or in cold England, so there is variety with the environment.

Maps will include both island style mapping as well as city styled mapping. It depends completely on the location and game type, not only this but there will be ships and such which players can use to transport.

Battle within Vendetta Source will not be fast paced fragging or slow paced realism, the modification will be class based and the battle will be quite unique. The guns in the 17th century have slower reload speeds than modern day weapons, meaning accuracy can mean a large part. Some people in the 17th century had multiple guns to save reloading, where as others preferred swords.

The game gives people different weapons and different reload speeds, but everybody has a melee weapon to fall back on, so if you?re not careful you may end up getting sliced and diced. Lighter weapons do less damage, but have more reliable reload speed, some guns have multiple shots where as other guns have just the one. The game will be very balanced and you will find yourself creating a class strategy to help you fight as you sail the seven seas.

There are 6 classes for each time, here you will see first "Pirate Class" / "Country Class" so here goes anyway:
- Buccaneer / Officer
- Sparrow / Marksman
- SwashBuckler / Rifleman
- Plunderer / Infantry
- Freebooter / Lieutenant
- Cut Throat / Scout

There are also 16 new weapons in the first release and new gameplay modes including Fun New Features to enhance gameplay!

Thanks Mobius, what better way to practise management skills (I'm entering a management course at University, also I have 4 years business education) than to do something I enjoy, and make someting cool but realistic :D

Any questions? Just say ^^

And I quote.

Well it's been a while since we first step foot into the water, the modification has come along and passed the first stage, now we’re going to show you some of our glorious media!

Because the mod is set in the 17th century and half life is not, we are required to create a lot of our own props, so you will find we’re creating many props for our mappers.

Take a butchers are this.

Maps

Weapons

Props

More media at our website:

On an additional note, Vendetta Source is looking for new team members to join the adventure, especially coders, mappers and most importantly, skinners. Because of our timeline, we need new props, but we’re unable to place our props in maps unless we get them skinned, so we’re currently hunting skinners!

Everyone is free to apply using our contact page.

This mod contains Pirates, and therefore gets my seal of approval.

I think there could be cooler parts of a pirate mod, like more focus on ship to ship battles, some kind of system where the players man the ship's cannon and send volley after volley of cannonballs into the other team.

Still, I'm a pirate all the way, so I'm totally keeping an eye on this mod.

We will have ships in this mod, don't worry, although destroying ships and cannon fire is something we're catious about and may come in future releases.

Thanks for the support and good comments :)

Cannon fire would be easy to do. Sinking the ships, less so.

Advice: In regards to the class system, aim for something a little more customisable. Standard class systems are overdone.

-Angry Lawyer

yeah, plus you're not a pirate if you look like every other pirate and have the same weapons of plunderin'

'xactly. Possibly, it'd work better if the country folks used a class system, while the pirates had a "pick yer stuff, matey" thing, which would accentuate the way they're irregular troops.

Also, people are going to fight over who gets to be the pirates.

I'd personally sleep with you if you replaced the defenders with Ninja and then got a release.

-Angry Lawyer

oh my god that would be more than fantastic

a pirate raid on a ninja stronghold

Like, the ship pulls up next to a cliff face, built into the side of which is a ninja school.

Cue wailing on guitars, generous "arr"ing, and Pi Mu Rho knocking down the cliff with nothing more than a malicious glare.

Yes, I have been drinking.

-Angry Lawyer

Lol ninja v pirate hmm... nah, the pirates have a temporary settlement on a nearby island as they plan the attack.

The screens of maps so far is the beginning of a pirate island.
We will obviously do a lot of internal testing when the time comes and try and balance everything out, hire the best "testers".

By that I mean people who try to break and abuse everything as well as enjoy it.

Lets face it, not everyone plays nice.

I'd advise you to avoid hiring testers, full stop, until you reach some sort of build. Otherwise, they're just mooching off of your work.

-Angry Lawyer

Yeah I apologise, I was refering to the very end of the modification.
We will do all internal alpha testing ourselves until we can't find anything to fix or upgrade. Then we will probably find testers from our community at the very very end which will probably be a long time away.

Thoes screenies of the maps look very impressive. How long has this been in the works?

16th June 2006 was the day we announced the mod and started designing.
