Recently my computer has started to automatically decrease the volume for certain programs from 100 to 13. The programs affected are so far Firefox, iTunes and VLC. It happens for no reason and completely at random. It last happened a few weeks ago, but it has occurred four time in this last hour. I can simply go to volume control and increase it again, but it's a real drag, especially when it's in the middle of a groovy song.

Any help on how to fix it would be much appreciated, with the possibility of a handjob in the not-so-distant future.

We're going to need more info on what programs you have running when it happens. Post a picture of your task manager in the processes tab the next time it happens.

Right click the volume icon>playback devices>communications>do nothing.
I don't know why other sounds drop to 13%(rather than by 50 or 80%), but this could probably fix it.
