Weapons galore! (hopefully)

So this could probably go into the Multiplayer section too, but I feel fairly confident that there will be new weapons for Aftermath. I'm just wondering if anyone's heard...

A. If there actually WILL be new weapons

and

B. If said weapons will be added to the multiplayer.

I really want A. B would just be freaking sweet. :sniper: :bounce:

Apparently the German PC Action preview said that Aftermath will indeed have new weapons. However, I cannot give a reputable source as i've only seen this confirmed on a site which can't be linked on this forum, and because so few people have seen the german published magazine in the first place. I think it's a pretty safe bet that there will be new weapons though. As for whether they will be added to the multiplayer... I don't know. Part of me would like to think that Valve would put a new multiplayer mode in as part of the AM package (CTF or something special like that) but I doubt they will. I also can't see them hurrying to add new weapons - a major selling point of their new expansion - for free to HL2DM.

Perhaps after a few months they'll add the weapons in HL2:DM. Perhaps they'll patch HL2:DM so there are AM and Vanilla servers - AM owners can play on both, HL2 only owners on Vanilla servers only. It's probably more likely that nothing will happen at all though - HL2:DM doesn't need new weapons to make it a better game, new weapons are just nice. An optional luxury that may be just too much bother for Valve to go and implement...
 
I know there was also a multi-purpose grenade launcher seen in one of the early videos, similar to the ones in Aliens Vs Predator and Unreal 2, that fired conventional, incendiary, or vortex (same effect as the strider cannon) grenades; The model used for it later became the Overwatch pulse rifle. The reasons it was cut were probably the same reason I rarely used the ones in the aforementioned games though: it's all well and good having six different types of ammo to deal with any threat, but not when you have to cycle through them to find the right one while your foe closes within minimum safe range.
Personally though, I would like to see a flamethrower. Introduced in an area infested with headcrabs, similar to the Ravenholm mines.

I dont know how credible this is.

I'd like to see fire implemented into AM with things like the flare gun, Molotov, and maybe cremators flamethrower (i think thats hwat he uses). I would also like to see some more antlion usage.

Ha Ha a headcrab sack would be cool. Walking around throwing headcrabs at combine then maybe controlling them similiar to the antlions.
