yeah, I just mentioned this in another thread.
It only happens with the combines, not the metro cop ones I don't think.
Its like a ring, really high pitched and faint.

You're quite right. There is a weird noise. This is why we believe the combine soliders aren't actually human. Check traptown out too. Put your headphones on and turn the volume up pretty loud, you'll probably notice the ones in there do it a few times too.

Kaite, your signature's a bit too big. Supposed to be four lines.

I thought he was talking about the the noises they actually make when they see you.

do u think that the marines have anything to do with the combine, they kinda talk the same (ie saying words) like ATTACK, BASTARD!

They're only human. Err, robot, or roboticly enhanced human. If you are fighting, you would want to use tactical words, and you also naturally swear when you are going to kill someone and stuff.

And those noises are like what Kaite said, flatlines with a bunch of static.

It's so silly for a huge group of cops or infantry to use radios. Sorry, my mistake.

Sorry? What? And they can't exactly talk out loud, they have these huge masks on them... And it's not silly, they might need to call for rienforcments, the main base (Or bases) needs to listen.

It was supressive sarcasm. Invert my statement to get my true understanding.

Oh, but why did you say sorry?

what?

so one of them sees something and no he cant report it cos that would be silly!

so instead he just gets eaten by the thing he was going to report in, and then the thing does them exact same to the rest of the squad.

I believe they are human, you hear one of 'em say "Freeze!" or something in the tunnels vid, and I think those beeps are like a heartbeat monitor or something, so if one get killed by a single citizen or something, nearby guards are alerted.

Collective Halucination my friend, I hear these weird screams too.

Maybe ur hiv suit can detect heartbeats? so u can hear the flatline?

The HIV suit would detect an imbalanced immune system.

Anyways, you'll never hear the citizens flatline when they die, so that is discredited.

LOL nice. It's just a cool effect, who cares what it is, I think it sounds cool. :)

HIV suit?????

Yeah, maybe the HIV-suit aids in detecting hardbeats. Or maybe Gordon uses hearing aids that are so powerful he can hear anything. I sure hope the Combine aren't immune to Gordon's weapons. But I think the STD... ermm OICW can kill some combine ass.
:p

Sorry, aids joke overkill...

yeah i know but i thought that he had typed it by accident.
Ugh, and so another thread loses it's meaning and becomes regular chatter.

I'm not really helping it but...

Wow, speaking of aids...
What a coinsedince.

but those flatlines are quite the ear-candy.
Yeah like I said.

Hmm, I think that's the first time I've hear the term "ear candy". heh

nah, "ear candy" is that yellowish-brown stuff that you scrape out of your ear... very good on toast.

Ughhh. Right after I had dinner...

Speaking of ear candy, the soundtrack HL2 has is very cool from what we've heard so far. (Barricade) Awesome.

I didnt bother reading this post so im probbally rehashing but, id say that noise is feedback from the guys screaming into there radios.

Possibly, but I'll stick with the earcandy. *Shudders*

oh well , nowt wrong with a little candy :D, unless its from micheal jackson... then just ... move away quickly :S

The beeps sound like a flatline, i think they have some sort of life monitor in those suits, like Freeman's HEV suit

I'd go with the flatline idea. Other people have said that the combine make Vortigaunt-esque gobbling noises while alive, but I'm pretty sure that's just distorted radio chatter from them talking into their mask mikes.

I don't understand why everyone is so impressed by corpses beeping.
