What happens between HL2 and Ep. 1?

I just played HL2 again, and noticed that at the end of HL2, the G-man saves you from the explosion, and puts you in stasis again... how does Alyx survive and how long has it been since you caused the explosion? Does alyx ever explain how she got out and safe in episode one? I guess I'll have to go back and play Episode 1 as well.

PS. unrelated but, I overheard Breen when he was communicating with who/whatever he was before he transported, and he says he can't survive in the environment he's being teleported to, and that he would need a host body.... fighting Breen as an alien would be sweet, as long as he didn't die in the teleport.:sniper:

if you played ep1 then you would know how alyx was saved at the beginning of ep1....also at the end of hl2 its is dusk and in ep1 it is morning. so around 10-12hrs.

well from what he said "i will have to go back and play ep1 as well" that could mean he did and is going to play it again or he is going to for the first time.
