I love style. My personal philosophy in anything I do is, "it's hollow without style." So tell me, what is your most beautiful, most stylish kill in Half-Life 2 deathmatch?

Mine came two days ago, while playing Lockdown. I ran up the flight of stairs into the office that overlooks the main corridor. I caught a guy pumping his health and armor up on the big machine hooked to the wall; I moved to crowbar him but I only got one hit on him before he spun around and began firing buckshot at me. We traded a few shotgun volleys, circling each other, not doing any real damage, when he circles around so that he's facing the front-left window (facing the ladder up to the catwalk). Out of ammo, I grab a filecabinet from the wall, flip it around so that it's vertical rather than horizontal (I like to call that "spear position"), and fired it. The filecabinet struck him in the chest, and he flies backwards...

...RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW. He literally did a backflip as he fell out of it. It looked more like a scripted sequence than something a ragdoll would do. I just stopped, frozen in place, staring at the window where he'd fallen out. Then I laughed my head off.

So, what's your favorite stylish kill?

I came out of the Crossbow store/room on dm_overwatch and fire a bolt after a guy who was outside of the basement/Pulse-Rifle room, and missed, he then went over the rubbel and towards the Magnum, so I (who was still outside Crossbow room) jumped and fired a bolt downward very close to the wall/ground (screenshot of the spot) and I then saw the blood on the wall behind it and then I got the kill ;)
 
I was in overwatch... The bottom part of the building.. the basement. I had my grav gun out - and I had just killed a string of about 10 people with tables and such down there... well, a guy spawned right after I killed a guy near the stairs on the other side of the room.. while I was running to him I picked up a cabinet and fired - missed too.. since I was out of ammo I whipped out my pistol; he picked up the cabinet and shot it at me.. he would have killed me ... but I crouched and the thing flew straight over my head... then I shot the explosive barrel right next to him - which killed him - and shot his ragdoll accross the room.

Style isn't really for me a cool experience - but doing whatever you can to get the kill...
 
I don't play HL2DM much. But when I do, I like to use the Grav Gun more than alot of people do. So anyway, I went on the other day to try out runoff. I got two very stylish kills that I was very proud of.

The first one was just a simple cinder block kill, but it was very stylish, because it was from a very long distance, from the double tunnels, to the back wall of the level. Right in the head :D

The second one is really much better. I was pleasantly surprised to find out I could pick up the boat with the grav gun. I threw it up onto the bridge above where it spawns in the vain hope of getting a few kills as people scrambled to get behind the blast doors. I picked it up and ran towards the door. Someone's legs were on the other side, so I fired the boat underneath. It took out his legs and got me a very satisfying kill. And I still got under the blast door :D
 
um dropding down on someone that had blown me up with a rocket (whom thought I was dead) and knocking them out with the crowbar. I dunno thats all I could think of there was others but they where more crasy then stylish.
 
Jumping from the rocket area in dm_overwatch down into the streets while magnum killing three people.
 
I had some LAN action last weekend and played some lame sniper map against two friends. We were just messing around when one of them was suddenly struck down by a stray bolt I fired from miles away. Great laugh. :naughty:
 
Mid-air stunstick kill on someone with the rpg jumping backwards off a bridge in dm_lostvillage :)
 
On (ahem) Killbox, I did a grav gun jump pretty high into the air from the radiator, switched to crossbow, and nailed some guy on a platform in the head (mid air).
 
Not so much a kill, but an interesting tactic that some of you might find useful, and I was amazed to find that it worked.

It was lockdown teamplay, and I was going into the small control room with the charger. Suddenly 3 enemies popped out of nowhere and 1 of my allies came in, I was rather low on health and didn't have any decent weapons that would handily take down 3 enemies (only had shotty), so I figured I'd just wait the battle out and hope to live to the end once they'd used their good ammo up and were reloading.

So, I ran to the charger and stuck my face in it and just recharged the entire time (lucky it was full). Because of how fast it replenishes your health, it's something nuts like 20HP per pulse, and about 2 pulses per second, I managed to live through the firefight because no one had any weapons that could damage me fast enough. I mananged to wait out long enough until 1 of the enemies was dead and so was my ally, so I spun around just as the other two guys were reloading and starting after me, and killed them both with blasts to the head, at the end of a battle that I would have had no other way of surviving/winning.

crossbow bolt through the back. There's few more humiliating places to die than impaled on a health charger :E
 
First time I got a crossbow kill that stuck the person to the wall. Not in DM, but still. I was going around the combine barrier at that one point and I shot the guy from a 45 degree angle below him, sticking him to the wall several feet up. I thought that was sooooo cool :D
 
I was in overwatch on the thired floor neer the RPG....
So my team camed ther but the rebels pushed pretty hard...
So I saw some one running into the corridor that leads to the stairs to the last floor I shoot himw with a crossbow and missed but the arrow bounced from the floor hit the wall then bounced agian and killed him.....
I was loughing for 20 minutes and my perent tought I went crazy!
 
Literal crucifixion /w crossbow.

Also, getting a dude so surrounded by satchel SLAMs in 1v1 that he surrendered.

Further SLAM fun is had by setting up hidden tripmines everywhere in a suddenly empty server, then building the best possible hiding place when someone does show up.
Then, play hide-and go seek, where every second seek ends in an explosion. :P
 
I was in a gunfight with someone in steamlab, I ducked behind some stairs and he threw a grenade at me, I picked it up and threw it right back at him, killing him and another guy.

I have good memories about SLAM's in door openings. This works great: place a large object in the door opening, for example a filing cabinets work great when lying flat. Place a slam between the doorpost and the object, so the beam hits the object. As soon as someone moves (bumps into it, picks it up) the object, the SLAM blows up in their face.

Once when I was playing HL2DM at a friend, I planted a lot of SLAM's in the SLAM spawn area near the central area of steamlabs. There was this newbie on the server and he got blown up by my creations countless times. This time, he was at those stairs in the SLAM spawn area. I placed a SLAM there, and he had spotted it, trying to get up. I could see the SLAM from my point overlooking the stairs, but not him. I did see some movement, so I decided to watch. Suddenly, I see a wooden beam sticking out, moving about a bit. The guy was trying to blow up a SLAM by waving a wooden beam into it! I thought, "doesn't he know he can just shoot it?". But no, this guy was poking it with a stick :laugh:
Needless to say, it blew up in his face, we bursted out in laughter :D
 
I love the charger room in Lockdown...

I had a similar kill to the guy in the first post although I fired a radiator at someone stood next to one of the windows. It was near the beginning of the level so the window still had the glass pane :) Radiator + Guy both went flying out of the window with the extra bonus of glass flying everywhere ;)

Another time, another guy was stood in exactly the same place and saw me run in with a crossbow. He tried jumping out of the window but as he did so I fired the bow and pinned his ankle to the wall which killed him. Because the pin happened mid jump though he carried on falling out of the window and was left hanging by his ankle hehe!

It was dm_overwatch on a full server with plain Deathmatch, which of course meant pure chaos. Many times you wouldn't last 5 seconds after respawning. Well I heard a lot of shots going on in the "garage" level which spawns the pulse rifle and several orbs. I was surprised there was barely anyone in the streets so I went up to a car and kept pressing the primary fire of my manipulator and raced to the "garage door." After a few tries I managed to fit the car through that tiny door and continued pushing. The next 30 seconds of the top right corner of any monitor on the map was filled with DoctorWeeTodd [toilet] _______. I must have killed over 13 people just shoving the car into that crowd. Of course it didn't all register as a kill for me since it would bounce off the ground before striking them regularly but it was still something.

After that the chat channel was filled with "Holy $#!+s", "Lols" and "WTFs".

I assume you call it the garage level since you are telling a story where you push a car through the basement door and into the basement? And what chat channel? ;)
 
Team DM in lockdown... I was in the room where there is the suit charger and the rockpile to climb up the walkway. I shot a rpg round from the assault rifle and I blew him out of the stage through the whole in the roof. Priceless.....
 
My fav kill was at powerhouse... i was near the RPG with the crossbow... well i fell down and in my down i saw someone at the second floor and shot him and killed him while i was falling...
At lockdown i was at 4 on 4 team DM and i killed the whole other team TWICE each time with one energy ball (got lucky.. i saw only 2 each time :bounce: )
 
Another cool thing was in lockdown in TDM:
it was a 30 player server wht means 15:15 and thw whole enemy team was in the charger room and I mean every body so I therew a few granedes and sent them an energy orb and killed every body... the next minute all that was in the chat was like lol and wtf...
I couldnt stop lughung.

I played on a custom map, I was playing really good that night. So I was standing in a park outside on the map, throwing things I had found with the gravity gun, killing people from time to time. Then two guys were coming at me, I took this computer screen with the GG, turned back and thew it at the head of the first one I saw. Nothing there was amazing, but once the computer screen headshoted the first player (killing him), it bounced on his head and went in the air spinning around, untill it got down to hit he second guy coming, on the head (killing him too). I was litteraly "Wow, I did this!"
 
Hmm, this one was really silly. I had a cinderblock that I threw with the gravity gun at someone, and it killed them. Through some weird physics randomness, the brick bounced directly off from the guy, and hit me in the head killing me.

I was not impressed.
 
A lame RPG'er in Lockdown couldn't hit me once, so I just took out my pistol & rocket jumped towards him when he fired his rockets at me. Then I got close to him & killed him with him still having RPG ammo. Was quite funny.

u know what even if it was a mod or whatever... U WONT BE ABLE TO MOVE BECAUSE OF THE LAG :sniper:
 
My most stylish kill wasn't really even my kill. o_0 I was playing on steamlab with satchel charges for the first time- I notice this lone satchel sitting in the middle of a hallway, so I pick it up with my gravgun (isn't that the first thing any cautious person would do? :rolling:) when out of the corner of my eye I barley see this guy camping around the corner behind a box. So I launch the satchel over right at his feet and jump out from behind the corner. The guys sees me, quickly ducks behind his box for safety and blows the shit out of himself. :laugh: Aperantly he thought he'd get a cheap kill and blow someone up, but when I came around the corner, he failed to see his satchel charge fly right under his ass...

I was lauging for a good 20 minutes after that. That's what you get for camping! :P

Why pick it up? I would've shot it with a pistol. Oh well, you did the right thing that time. :)

Well as for me, I've had so many "stylish" kills that I can't really remember or choose.
 
...never played HL2DM, the only online gaming I've done was AVP2, although sometimes I'd warm up with some Quake 3. I'd play the Runner alien and I recall jumping far enough that I could use the tail attack while still in the air (on the way down). I stunned somebody else in the air who happened to jump up at the same time. He continued his trajectory stunned and landed in a heap. I proceeded to go over and eat him (health for Aliens). I guess eating your fallen opponents isn't very stylish though. :burp:

for some reason the server was 90-100 ping and it worked fine... atleast for me... didnt lag so much...
but now ther are no more servers like this..
actually ther areless then 100 serverssome times...
thats sad

There were a lot of 32 player servers in the beginning.
 
I like to set up traps on overwatch with the explosive barrels. Last night i got 4 barrels up on the top floor, blocked the entrance on the stairs with various items and hid a barrel in the center, then i placed a barrel at the top of the stairs where you turn right round the corner where it couldnt be seen, another barrel to the right of the wall where everyone hides from the RPG and another to the left. I got 5 kills with these traps. I stood at the top of the stairs and hear some guy blasting away with the gravgun to unblock the stairs then shot the explosive barrel killing him. I stood back a little and another guy within seconds comes blasting at the blockage so i drop a grenade, pick it up with gravgun and throw it to the bottom of the stairs where it explodes just before hitting the ground, takes the guy out and unblocks the stairs leaving the passage open so another guy immediatley runs up the stairs. I start running backwards and shoot the barrel to the right of the stairs sending his ragdoll over the wall and off the roof and i run to where the rpg is, get it out and shine the laser just above the stairs knowing whenever someone sees it hes gonna dash straight for cover behind the wall where i strategically placed the 2 barrels :P. Guy runs up, sees laser, i dont even fire, he runs behind the wall as predicted and i swing out the pistol and shoot the barrel to my right which sends him flying to the left and sets fire to the barrel on the left. Boom, second barrel gets him. Not a single stylish kill but all those kills in a row from the traps id placed made me proud:P
 
Mine was when it was just me and my brother (who sits right behind me) on a lan. He was running at me with a crowbar because I was out of ammo, and I was just sprinting away in hopes of finding a gun. Panicing, with only my grav gun, I right click while spinning around to face him. What do I grab? A watermelon.

He obviously sees this, and he is low on health so he does some dodging manuvers, one of which is a simple jump. While he is in mid air I launch it at his face. A direct hit kills him, and within 3 feet his head snaps back so quickly that his ragdoll is able to to a backflip before doing a faceplant into the cement ground. The watermelon explodes in a equally satisfying manner.
 
I did the most hilarious crossbow-nailing ever. Picture this: a guy is standing at the roof on overwatch, ready to jump down. i'm sprinting towards him with crossbow, as he jumps, i jump after him, and fire.

I manage, to pin him to the wall, 4 meters in the air, on the opposite side of the street. It was pure joy.

SLAM is (next to grav gun of course) my favorite weapon. This one time, also on overwatch, i'd put three Explosive barrels tight together in a corner, near the shotgunspawn. Hidden behind the barrels were 5-6 tripmines, with the lasers locked on the barrels. Suddenly, two guys comes running, gunning at each other. Both bring up their G-guns, throwing tables and whatnot at each other. Then, one of them makes a fatal mistake. He backs up against the barrels, pushing them backwards...into the laser. The blast from the SLAMs propelled the burning barrels all the way outside, killing a (innocent) bystander. And, of course, everybody in the room excluding me.
 
1. In lockdown, I was on the floor below the supercharge room. I heard someone using the charger, and I was grav-carrying a toilet. I quickly shot it through the window and it bounced off of the roof and pwned the guy at the charger. :D I love those kind of blind kills
2. On depot, me and this guy had already had a couple of long battles, and in this one he got a grenade out ready for gravving it at me. He dropped it on the floor, but I got my grav gun out before him and pelted him with it.
 
From the room in overwatch, picked up a xbow, and shot it too close to the wall, deflecting it off hitting some rebel in the back of the head making him fly forward into the blue truck...total accident.

Another on in steamlabs, setting up a slam above the stairs, watching someone walk up to it stop, and think about what to do, so i picked up a barrel nearby and rolled it across the room, centimetres from the laser he worked out what was going to happen, and turned to run, but the barrel broke the laser and boom he flew across the room.

Oh and any kills with crates, once they break around a players body and they flop to the floor, it always looks pleasant.
 
this whiny person who was hogging the chatline with baseless cheat accustations was charging at me with a shotgun in the charger room in lockdown. I managed to sprint strafe jump right out of the way of a shotty double blast (the shot would've splattered me had i been half a second slow) and pinned him to the glass window above the shotgun respawn spot while i was in mid jump.

He kept calling me a cheater and acting like a 12 year old. It was so much fun pestering him.

My best kill though was in a game of team deathmatch in lockdown. I shot a plasma orb at 1 guy as a deterrent. To keep him busy while i went for more power ups. I didn't actually think it would hit him. Not only does it hit him, but it bounces in and out of several hallways and rooms taking out the other 2 players on his team.

1 orb takes out the entire enemy team and they weren't even huddled or anything.
