1280*1024 -my CRT screen would take 1600*1200 fine but the performance drop is to big imo and i cant feel the diff that much...

I play in 2048x1536 but that options not listed. It's kinda cool, you can see a lot more.. like read more small print, and generally see more details on everything..

1280x1024.

LCD at anything less looks worse than CRT as far as I can tell... but 1280x1024 on a good LCD screen looks absolutely stunning. Gave me another valid excuse to play through HL2 again :)

Ever since the NoobFilter® disappeared, this forum got really shitty.

You obviously dont think the forum is that bad, otherwise you'd have stopped posting.

like i said i use 1280x1024, but how do you get the higher ones like 1600x1200?

2048x1536 if I want to make my eyes explode and die (60 Hz refresh rate) so I usually play in 1280x1024. Sometimes I'll bump it up to 1600x1200, but the performance starts to fall off.

I use 4x3. Sure, it's hard to tell what I'm looking at... but the framerate is AMAZING!

shouldn't 17"s be able to do 1280*1024?

If it's an LCD, yes; if it's a CRT, probably not.

Ummm, CRT's actually display higher resolutions than LCDs and MORE resolution sizes as well, so I don't know what crack your smoking, but my last CRT handled 1280x1024 just fine.. it just says (LCD) next to it in HL2 options because it's the recommended res for most LCDs.... not because CRTs can't use it... .....

Meh, my CRT can't do 1280 without making ****ing my head at 60hz

My friends 17" CRT used to do 1600x1200. My 15" CRT used to do 1280x1024 no trouble (well, "no trouble" except the naff refresh rates, and the fact that you need Super-hero level eyesight to be able to see such fine resolutions on such small screens)

Huh. My 17" CRT refused to display any resolution that wasn't in a 4:3 ratio. :frown:
