This has probably been mentioned already (so commence "search damn you!" comments if so), but I just jumped back into the scene at Black Mesa East and something happened that never did before.

I went over to that clipboard with the newspapers etc, I've done it twice already... but this time Eli came over and talked to me about Breen and mentioned the 7 hour war. He said something like "Breen ended the 7 hour war by organizing Earth's surrender. The combine rewarded him with power."

Anyone else see this yet?

Is this time released content? Or did I simply hit a trigger this time that I didn't before?

I realize I must sound like a retard if this is common knowledge and I completely skipped over it somehow the first time.

it was said that you could play the game over and over again and not get the same exact reaction from things. the game is simply one big nonscripted world. actually if you cheat and grab the clipboard with the manipulator and stick it in eli's face, he'll give you the gauss gun.

When he says "Have a look around" he pauses. In the time before Alyx comes in, there's a good number of things you can look at that will trigger responses from Eli. I remember the weird looking object in a jar, the family photo, and the clipboard at least all are triggers.

Yeah there are lots of triggers in the room but it's mostly random. You'll maybe get one or two explanations and it's different every time. That's one of the things I loved in Nova Prospekt with the Antlion Guards fighting the Combine Soldiers. I would save and load like 8 times just to watch the fights because the outcome was different every time.
