I want to download Source SDK, but where can I find it. I know that Source SDK can only be downloaded through Steam. But, I can't find it...Please help me...

Right click on the Steam Icon on the taskbar and select Games, then expand the games menu by clicking on the arrow in the upper right corner of the menu and then find the button that says Tools and click on it, you'll find it there.

I have done what you tought me, and there are only 2 icons. One is Dedicated Server Install and the other one is Source Dedicated Server Install. Which one should I choose...

if you dont have source sdk then thats means you dont own any source games. also i think hl2 is needed

Neither of them are the Source SDK and I don't know why you wouldn't see it. Go into the web address bar and type steam://install/211 and then hit enter, with steam running, and it should download the Source SDK.

If he doesn't have HL2:SP he won't get the SDK supposedly.

I have done exactly like what to told me to do, and I saw a few GCF files known as Source Engine.gcf, Source Materials.gcf, Source Models.gcf and Source Sounds.gcf .These were the files I saw in my SteamApps folder. And there wasn't any Source SDK icon in the Tools list in my Steam List. What should I do...

ok what happens when you type steam://install/211 and then hit enter, with steam running

Uhh... You don't know much yourself do you? Hammer is used for mapping.

He can use whatever C++ programming tool he wants to code for HL2.

But he will need the SDK to put it into a mod, I think.

Same with me...

Part 1: Cant you use GtkRadiant to edit "Half Life?" maps?

Part 2: I have the same problem...

I also cant use mods like Garry's mod, Death match pro (For HL?DM),Exile and other ones...

I bought Half Life? (DVD) but it wont appear in steam... I have CS:S, Half Life? Deathmatch (That I dont play, I play the HL?DM I got from one of steams events|29.7 hr's of pure multiplayer for he last 2 weeks and they just started...) and HL:S They all came with HL? DVD and they work fine but they dont showup in steam!
*About HL?DM, I dont play the oreginal game cuz it doesnt find any server... same with all the MP modes in those games...

One last thing...
Im cinda new in CPP but I can handle it... Is there any source files that I can download to *try* and make a map?

Pleas help me too...

I can't help you, sorry, I'm just here to tell everybody else that it's obvious you did a search and posted in the most relevant topic, so don't give this guy any crap about reviving old threads. Ye wankers.

Okay, let's start with the obvious. Do you see Source SDK under Tools or Not Installed in the Steam games menu? If so which category is it under?

Part 1: Cant you use GtkRadiant to edit "Half Life?" maps?

No, you need to use Hammer which is in the SDK. At least, it would certainly be the easiest option. But it's very similar to GTKRadiant.

You don't need to code anything to map. You only need to use C++ if you're going to create a mod of some sort.

Also it's "kind've"

Pleas help me too...

No! D:<

Hmm....

Well, when i looked on my Steam thing it had it. Oh, which 1 do i press? And, if you do have anyy steam games i probably would reccomend reinstalling. Now, i'm not sure if it will work, so try it at your own risk :D:D:D:D:D

well,if you cant find Source SDK in the toolsthen you dont have half-life 2 or any program that runs it so if u dont have it your gonna have to buy it or your gonna have to reinstal it :(

(im New btw)

You may not realise then, it's a bit silly bringing up a thread from a year ago.
