Anyone know some good websites that will host custom maps made by players? I am having a tough time finding any. I don't have a real website, just one of those free tripod ones.

I have a map that you can download here, http://falcon_of_fury. tripod .com/scrapyard_c2.rar

To download, you have to past this link into your address bar, and delete the spaces around the word tripod, and press enter.

I also want some of the big DM servers to run my map. Anyone know some admins I can contact to try my map out? It's a large map for DM, so I would like it on a large server.

Come on guys. I would really like some server admins to give my map a chance. I thought it was fun, but I don't have the bandwidth to make a good server.

Hi,

A new website will be fully going live in a few weeks, dedicated to hosting hl2dm maps. This will include a database of maps with reviews for each. Below is the URL.

halflife2.net

Obviously it's not the best design at the moment, but in the next few weeks we should have a start on a map database and the start of a project called Landmarks.

In January we will also have a 12 player HL2DM server to host all of the maps we have reviewed.

I would happily host anyones map, just mail me or pm me.

Hope that helps.

Sounds good Smeg. So did anyone try my map yet? What do you think?

Get some proper lighting in there stat. I can tell you that from the screenshot. Also, it looks a bit dull.

And Smeg, ask permission before advertising please.

What do you mean dull? There's tons of stuff in the screenshot. I made the light all bright because I hate maps where someone camps a dark spot and you can't see them.

You seem to be going off the screenshot. Did anyone actually try the map?

I will be building a nice downloads section for maps at my web site.

I will gladly host maps for anyone. I have a team that will be personally testing all maps for quality and playability before they are added to our site.

I plan on being very patient. As far as I am conserned the competition at Steam will define the standard for all future HL2DM mapping.

I wouldn't even call Smeg's post advertising. He isn't trying to make any money. I asked for websites where I can submit maps. If people aren't allowed to post websites for this purpose, then blame me.

It's ok, we just don't like rival sites coming along and advertising themselves for free.

And by dull I mean repeated textures, boring looking box etc. And fullbright sucks. Period.

All I can say is that the map is actually quite fun, and my second map will have realistic lighting. I didn't think anyone would care about the lighting. I mean, in deathmatch you're generally killing, and not admiring the realism of the map.

Please please please, I beg someone to try this map on a decent size server. I can run 4 players from my home without lag, and I had so much fun on this map. It's a large map, and the screenshot doesn't do it justice. There are 3 large arenas, many smaller rooms, and several long tunnels. This would work beautiful on a 16 player server. While it generally looks like an old Doom1 map in design, I added some tricks and secrets to getting the best weapons like the magnum and the rocket launcher.

I added it to another site with a few more screenies to whet your whistle.
