It seems I have have been playing oblivion forever and I am still at level 1. Maybe Im just not used to a game as deep as this (even though I played EQ for 4 years lol) or maybe im just not doing the right things to level up. i havent closed the first oblivion gate but i've done like 100 fighters guild missions and other random missions. How do I level up!!!

Do you ever find a bed and rest? After some of your skills increase while your doing a quest or whatever, you should rest and level up...I did within an hour of play ?:\
If you have done that, then wtf...

Actually I have never slept at all lol, lemme try that and see what happens

The game will tell you when you need to rest to level up.

Hmm well I went to sleep and Im still lvl 1....I know this game is huge but not so huge that I play for 6 days straight adn dont go up 1 lvl. My birth sign is the warrior and class is barbarian if that helps

If you have done like 100 quests, you have probably level'd up many many times. Like idonotbelong here said - but I will add, just keep going back to sleep and putting points on your attributes, preferably ones that have a bonus so you get more attribute points per level up. just sleep an for an hour repeatedly. when you stop leveling up after sleeping, then you are finished.

Let us know what level you become.

I have slept 48 hours and havent leveled up at all this is ridiculous! Not that it seems to matter cuz im stacking up bad ass gear anyways. In the morning I'll try closing the first oblivion gate and see what happens. But thanks so much for your help all of you! Please keep it coming.

You level up per 10 increases in major skills. Not that hard to understand. You'll then get a message saying you should rest. you only need to sleep for 1 hour though.

An icon will appear to the right of your compass too. Looks like a little sun with an arrow pointing upwards.

Have you gone through any of the dungeons?

I had the same problem. It took me 20 hours to level up. Now I'm at level 6.

Heh I too had this trouble. So I just stopped playing. :P

You need to sleep in a bed, if you do it anywhere else (i.e. not in a bed) it's waiting not sleeping.

Also you need to use your major attributes, if you chose mostly fighting skills and play as a mage you wont level up much at all.

Woot! I closed the first oblivion gate and retook kavatch and Im now lvl 2 :P

If you wanted to level up quickly, you should have picked really easy major skills.

Level 33 ftw.
Of course, I have 130 hours of gameplay and counting :P

Heh, slowpoke :P I've clocked about 90 hours and I'm level 41. Or was. I stopped playing over a month ago.

Well it depends if you're a straight-to-the-point character or if you like to walk around and stuff. Don't forget the number of meals you've eaten while the game was paused (and the clock still ticking) :P.

Indeed, first time was much slower than second. Second I know where to go, what to do and all that. First time around I really focused on looking at everything and trying things out.

This is one of the many reasons why I do not play this game anymore. It would seem like I would be walking around for like 30 min just to see one monster. I don't know what to tell you either than just keep resting every now and then.

Yeah, there are hardly any monsters out in the wild. I think the reasoning is it would be annoying to have a trail of monsters chasing you around when trying to travel.

Nearly every minute of travel if you just run any direction, you will come across a landmark, and most of the time it's a dungeon guarded by at least one enemy. Inside these dungeons is where all the action takes place with dozens of enemies.

Hence why it's a dungeon crawler and not a wilderness survival game.

It's pretty rocking trying to wander around, though. I'm 70+ hours and level 21 >>

29 hours and level 21 for my main character and 13 hours at level 10 for my second.
