Lo all,

I installed HL2 on my HTPC last nite so i could hopefully play it on my 28" widescreen telly and 5.1 amp and speaker setup.

but

when i start the game i only have the option for 16:10 not 16:9 and full screen on 16:10 causes a nasty screen overlap and flicker at the bottom of the screen. how could/should i be able to choose 16:9?

also setting audio to 5.1 it doesnt seem to output any signal to my 5.1 amp through coax which windows seems to without problem... i presume this is just becase hl2 doesnt have proper digital audio out support. if i choose 2 channel i get audio but obviously isnt perfect for me.

any ideas? widescreen is the biggest issue really

try checking your manual for what size your tv supports

add this to your command line options for hl2: -w WIDTH -h HEIGHT

replace WITH, and HEIGHT with the resolution you want

You need a soundcard capable of dolby digital hardware encoding if you're connecting it via coax such as nVidia's nforce2 (like me!).

It sounds awesome.
