Sorry, as much as Macs rule in speed and power, it's gaming library is VERY limited. There's a petition online somewhere for Half-Life 2 to be on the mac, but seeing how HL1 isn't, chances are slim to none.

You may want to try UT2k3 or Max Payne for fps goodness.

Actually, I like the Mac I have at work... it runs well, and now that it's FreeBSD based I can do a lot of my testing before transferring it to our remote server right there instead of having an extra box setup. It's sure as hell a lot prettier than anything I've seen on XF86.

But anyway, unless they decide to do some DRASTIC changes, no Mac support because HL2 uses DirectX.

Lies. I'm not saying I would take one over my PC, but they are a reliable graphics and print development platform, not to mention what you can do with them now that they are FreeBSD based.

Macs have their place, they're great for graphic artists, and video editors. However beyond the artsy stuff there's not much they excell at. And the main reason why HL2 isn't on the mac is quite obvious.

It has been coded entirely using DirectX and DirectX's High-Level Shader Language. DirectX is windows only, so unless they want to totally re-write half-life 2 for the mac, there'll be no native port. In the future a third party may obtain the rights to port the game over, but I doubt valve themselves will do it.

When I said I work on a mac at work everyday I don't mean just working with Word or anything like that. I work as a graphic designer and I can honestly say that my PC is far better than a Mac. In the days of old yeah Macs were better than PC's for graphics, Those days are long gone.

MACs are awesome, so what if they look gay, so what if they're more useable as furniture rather than as a computer, so what if there are like 4 games in total for them, so what if...


in short, if you're getting a mobile, get a P4 and 9600Pro in it and stay away from MACs.

my mom and one of her friends have owned about 7 macs between them...power mac, powerbook, imac, ibook etc etc.

none of them ever worked for more than a week without some horrible crashes. like...the computer just reboots randomly...i swear...their OS's is much worse than even windows ME, which is saying a lot
(except os X...i can't comment on that because i've never used it)

HL2 won't be coming to Mac....Can anyone confirm this? Because I'm not totally certain..
