I just noticed something playing the game again. After you get the HEV Suit and are escaping past the trainyard, you drop in some water then swim, then climb into a red "abandoned" railroad car, and there is a dude and a vordigrunt in there. He talks "Blah blah, get outta here they can't find you here" whatever, but I just sat and stared at the Vortigrunt. He says TWO things, first
"Ah it is the Free Man, the combine will get it's due (or along that line)"
The SECOND thing he said is what got me
"We both work for the same person" I don't remember if it was man or person or whatever buy he said we both work for the same!!!!!! Why is the G-Man "employing" the vortigrunts????
WTFBBQ!! Man, too bad there isn't a story underlying this kick-ass game ;)

Why? said:
gotta wait for HL3 :(
Yes!! I frikin know this... and I don't want to wait..
Well, I sort of do, it's this weird masochistic thing I have going see... oh nvm, but did you notice that part?

GMan isnt the boss. He makes that clear enough in HL1. Gman and the Vortigrunts have the same boss. But who is that? And who was Dr Breen talking to?

You dont need spoiler tags in this part of the forum

ok that's cool about the tags.

How do you know GMAN and Grunts have same boss? The grunt said to ME!

Thats how I know. :p Hell, they both conspired to take down the Combine..

Thank god its just a trillogy. HL3 cannot end like HL1&2. VALVe owes us some answers.

Just so you know... The vortigaunt says "We serve the same mystery."

Play it through with captions, it helps. In vortigaunt/yoda speach, one can assume that mystery = cause, not G-man

Or the mystery can simply be a reference to the fact that vortigaunts seem to know what's really going on and who Gordon is (listening the hidden vortigaunt speaking is an enlightening experience).

also take note that the gman is on the TV just as you drop into the railway cart...

The gman recommends gordon's services to different worlds who are experiencing oppression. that's my theory (and a general one around here.)

ahhh, I didn't hear "mystery", I heard master or something similar. Are the Vortigunts "XEN" creatures?? If so.. That's interesting that we are on the same team now. I'll def play with subtitles now!

at one point a vortigaunt also says "we work for the same mystery" after seeing Gman on a TV
