This is just awful. I can't believe she did that. This really makes a mockery of all the woman who are actually raped and can't get their attackers charged. The poor guy as well. Imagine going through that.

AN UNFAITHFUL wife was jailed for 12 months yesterday after crying rape to cover up her infidelity.

Merete Underwood, who abandoned her husband and young son during an evening out, panicked when she realised that her one-night stand had resulted in a missing person report to police, Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court was told. The alleged rapist, an interior designer, spent 24 hours in a cell and had the prospect of prosecution hanging over him for three months.

I like how her last name is Hacking lol, I wish I was "Hacking" but yeah I agree with you Teeth, that's horrible, stupid sloot. rawr

Erm, Joanne Hacking was the prosecution lawyer thingy.

ahh the continuing abuse of the legal system in the world..fun times..

Anyway, this is the world we live in... :|

Figure of speech.

New Age... or whatever. This kindof shit has been going down long before this century started.

Still unbelievable, though :|

It's effective though. I was at Burger King and they gave me strawberry when I asked for chocolate milkshake so I cried rape and I got five of those cardboard crowns.

*sigh* I hate idiots. I'm serious..I'm gonna become ruler of the world. I'm gonna put up a broadcast that says "COME TO ME FOR FREE MONIES!" and whoever shows up, slaughter them. Clean up that GenePool a bit eh?

Hahaha. Good one.

And yes, women falsifying rape claims is horrible.

Agreed. Is that how you spell it? mwah.

I don't get it. What was her crime? Lying in the court?

She cheated on her husband. Her husband filed a missing person report so she panicked. She then claimed that she was held against her will and raped.

She cheated on her husband... so? It was pretty stupid of her to report her report it as rape, but I don't see the big problem. Things like this happans every day.

She lied in court so the innocent guy "spent 24 hours in a cell and had the prospect of prosecution hanging over him for three months". Not really great for the guy, he just wanted to have some sex :upstare:

There's a lot of stigma attached. I mean, if someone finds out you're being charged with rape it can really affect your life. So it's a bit worse than falsely being accused of another crime.

EDIT: Also:
Not only had three officers been involved in the investigation, but forensic laboratory facilities were tied up, closed-circuit television footage examined and a number of statements taken.

A waste of taxpayers money, don't you think?

Yeah, that's kind of what I was saying before. It's like, "Okay... that's the world, and?"... life goes on.

Erm, so that excuses her? It's not awful and disgusting that she would use a very serious accusation just to cover up her one-night stand?

how some of you are dismissing this as nothing astounds me even more...the fact that anyone could do something like that makes me feel sick. she should be shot in the teeth

The implications of accusing a man of rape are immense. It's morally almost akin to murder. Imagine you were charged with murder, and had to go to court, with the threat of prosecution, and a subsequent long sentence hanging over your head for three months.

The fact that she did it to cover up her own infidelity means she's ****ed up two people's lives, too.

Yeah, I get all that. But look, that's life, the world is a pretty messed up place... get out more and you'll find out yourself.

The world is still going to spin, and the sun is going to rise. (hopefully)

What a really silly viewpoint. It's bad that it happens!

Its never okay, with a shrug of the shoulders, when something bad like this happens. yes, the world is a messed up place, but we as people can certainly help try to make it better, and not just let things that happen... happen without so much as a thought in our hearts.

Maybe if you got out as much as you're suggesting we should, you'd understand how utterly ****ing serious it is to be accused of rape.

The problem is that this is more or less humanities in-built reaction to everything: Blatent stupidity.

i hope she enjoys her time in prison. bitch. crying 'rape' is no small thing.

and yes, this is very serious. we cant just let people cry rape over every little thing. it ruins lives and perverts the court of justice. let them work on the legitimate cases.

Yeah, I get all that. But look, that's life, the world is a pretty messed up place...

You may be right, but what are we supposed to do? Sit back and take it? The world is constantly evolving, and even though human nature might not change, we can still use government to help control shit like this.

If everyone just sat back and said 'oh well' I think we would be much worse off.

Thanks for that. We're discussing something here.. apparently so are you, since you've honoured us with your presence. Shit does happen. We're discussing the consequences. Where's the problem? Is this immature or naive? Incidentally, in case you haven't gathered, the implications of accusing someone of rape, as I pointed out earlier in the thread, are really, really big. But I guess it doesn't affect me, so....

Some of you are taking my opinion a little bit too hard.

I’m not shrugging my shoulders; it’s just there are a lot worse things happening where your attention should be on. You’re going on like this is the end of the world, it’s not.

If you want to do something to help the world, then adopt a kid from Ethiopia and donate money (which my parents have done). Or, go give blood at the Red Cross…

By the way, I never said what she did was "okay".. but that it's not anything to get worked up about.

Well, if people don't get worked up about it... it'll continue to happen, and innocent guys will go to jail for crimes they did not commit.

Whatever, kiddo, it doesn't matter. The implication was that we were naive. But hey.

Don't call me "kiddo"...

Thanks in advance.

It's funny, but regardless of how worked up you get, innocent guys will still go to jail.

Hey, not all the time... but shxt happens.

Yes there are starving children in third world countries, and yes thats just as horrible or worse than whats going on here too. Point is, this thread was not intended to discuss the problem of starvation, it was about the perversion of the court of justice. If you're just going to change the subject, then make a new thread.

Every time a problem comes along and we just look at worse problems and shrug thing off, things will only get worse. Getting shot in the foot might not be as bad as being shot in the stomach but im still going to feel the pain.
