There was a much more serious kids show that used to be made like 20-30 years ago called "Thunderbirds" and it used this exact type of puppetry and art. Although I wouldn't be surprised if a comedy show was made using it as well.

Thunderbirds kick ass. Except that new movie looks like a Power Rangers reject.
