Sorry if old. Have to say i agree with them mostly but I would maybe change goty to orange box but bioshock would be my second choice.

I agree almost completely with that. The only ones I'd change are:

GOTY: Super Mario Galaxy
Best MP Game: Team Fortress 2
Best Soundtrack: Mass Effect

Not bad, very hard year to pick awards for.

The fact that Halo 3 was in ANY category is why I stopped watching this dumb-ass show... But Best Game innovation? Their opinion is now VOID. Best multiplayer game, I could see them winning, lots of people play it's multiplayer, but innovation or GOTY? F*ck them, just trying to appeal to the masses of idiots.

I agree with some of the winners, and understand why they'd pick a few that I didn't like, but the nominees are retarded.

Why is TF2 not even mentioned in the Best Art Direction category? ****ing COD4 is in there, but not TF2.

MP winner should've been CoD4, tbh.

But gg to Bioshock for sweeping most of the catagories.

Bioshock: 2
Halo 3: 1
Someone tell me if I missed any other GOTY awards.

Lolvut. How'd that get there...

Just because it isn't something original like Cell-shading or any of that the art-direction in COD4 was pretty amazing.

And Halo 3's Forge gameplay is pretty innovative, 'specially when compared to most games today. I thought the replay was pretty innovative but that'd be suggesting it hasn't been done before (It's just done well in this case)

No I'll admit, COD4 looked ****ing beautiful, but TF2 seems like it would have been a better candidate.

FLAWED THINKING.

Why is screenshots considered a gameplay innovation?

More of a summary I guess. I don't see how they're innovative, even if the whole thing is integrated better than we've seen before.

One thing to consider - if HL2 had the forge and theatre mode, or decent co-op and a meta game, virtually everyone hear would be balls deep on Gabe and proclaiming how amazingly awesome each of these features were. But no, Halo 3 has them ;)

I bet you that the main public wouldn't have thought of it as an innovation with HL2 but halo that's a whole other story. :|

I doubt that.

Quite possibly, although, as edge pointed out, 'level editing is live and collaborative, and even part of the multiplayer itself'. I've spent a few nights with mates, flying about levels, spawning different vehicles, items, and changing gametypes on the fly. It's awesome fun. Where else can you do this? Also, while the theatre mode offers nothing new, it's so much better than the way we've been creating, sharing and viewing demos on the pc over the years. I've been getting quite heavily into TF2 leagues recently and making/watching lots of demos and wish it had something like Theatre mode.

I doubt that.

Take the blinkers off. I don't have the slightest doubt that each feature (well, perhaps not the co-op/meta-game, H2 woudn't be well suited) would be held up as an example of Valve excellence had they come up with it first.

agreed.

Which is exactly what I was talking about. I don't even know what the Forge is, and have only a vague about what Theatre mode is. The latter probably wouldn't suit a HL game if I'm thinking along the right lines anyway, so I guess that makes what you are saying pretty moot.

As moot as you saying people wouldn't be praising The Forge and Theatre mode when you don't really know what they are? ;)

In the Forge you can run/fly about multiplayer maps with a bunch of friends and spawn vehicles, items, weapons etc. You can alter gametypes, fight it out, check how fun things are, how well balanced, or just get really silly and play rocket baseball with the hammer. It's like a co-op fps sandbox that you can also use to create multiplayer exactly the way you want. It's awesome. Theatre mode makes recording, watching and sharing demos and screenshots very easy. The last 20 or so times you played co-op, single or multiplayer are stored automatically, and you can fly about the map, pausing or slowing down time and checking things out. It's like every decent feature pc demos ever had all in one.

I was talking about co-op/meta-game, as I said above. Forge/Theatre--they exist within the context of the given game (Halo 3 in this case), and so would probably never interface with Half-life games anyway. So it's just an inane point to make; and you of all people know it.

Which you made only made clear later.

I honestly haven't got a clue what you're talking about :)

HL2 multiplayer would be awesome with something similar to the forge, and every single and multiplayer Source game would benefit from a theatre mode that you could use to share demos/screenshots over steam with.

Yes, it'd be brilliant with a Forge feature. I'll just pretend I know what it is.
