I am wondering.. Will the Xenians be joinin the Resistance in HL2:AM, We know the Vorts did.. But what about the others? and im not talkin about Wildlfie like Antlions and Headcrabs.. Alien grunts? Controllers?

Nope. I doubt any of them are either on Earth. Grunts were engineered in Xen and only obey the xen masters, who are the Controllers - who enslaved the vorts.

So know, they wont be.

I'm not sure if enough Controllers got trapped on Earth for them to decide. But lingering bitterness between them and Vortigaunts would probably make for a lot of squabbling. And they seem much crueller/more alien than the Vorts.

And as for the Grunts, it was mentioned somewhere that their armour was a cause of their mineral rich diet, and that being seperated from Xen for too long would cause them to die of malnourishment. That could explain for their non-existance in HL2.

Controllers would'nt join the resistance because the Vorts have ;) .

They might join the Combine.
Combine Controllers, oooooh :) .

Or, they'd just gate themselves back to Xen and nurse their wounds? They've got built in gateways in their heads, you know. And they seem too proud to be dominated by anyone else. They'd rather control than be controlled.

They didn't seem to be able to gate themselves to Earth in the first HL, why would they be able to gate back?

i'd say is a vort saw a controler it would go bezerk and blast it, then start its heart again with a shock, then repeat.

What, Controllers? They were teleporting all over the damn place in HL1!!

Perhaps the atmosphere allowed this?
There were plenty of rocks and mantas floating round.

I'm sure they did gate around on Earth - remember that bit where you're charging up the giant teleporter? They seemed pretty adamant to stop you.

Hell i forgot that bit :O

Yes they did, but perhaps it was only because Nihalinth was drawing power from that particular teleport that he was able to send some controllers through?

Or maybe teleportation is an innate ability of Controllers, due to the large chunk of crystal lodged in their skulls? :P

No because if you recall at the end of HL1 where GMan gives his speachbefore you enter the portal I quote"But if you wont accept the offer then ill just let you visit the only survivors of the race you have completely annhialated and a battle you have no chance of winning."

Er... he didn't say that - the bit about 'only survivors of the race you have completely annihalated" - not on any of the half-dozen times I played it, anyway...

"Survivors of a completely annihilated race"... one hell of an oxymoron there.

Although I doubt we'll see the "sentient" Xen creatures fighting alongside (or even against) the Resistance, I'd quite like to see the Vortigaunts fulfilling that role and dispensing electric death.

Well i didnt get it right but i do remember listening to him say"no regrets MR. Freeman but there are a few survivers of your own perasonal holocaust who would like a chance to see the man responsible for the annhialation of their race.Just get a sound file player and listen to it.

but that's not in the game.

Yeah it is. Complete the game and don't go through the portal. There's about 200 grunts, and a few dozen controllers all waiting to beat you down. I think it's safe to say that the Xenians still have quite a bit of military might.

Maybe they came through that big teleporter ;)

Or maybe I'm always right, so don't argue :P

They didn't come from the centre, where Gordon jumped through. They appeared in the air around it. And it obviously was planned, as they know what Gordon was trying to achieve.

The controllers can get to Earth because of the resonance cascade, and not because of there own inate abilities. In my opinion.

I think that the resonance cascade acted like a hook, so the Xenians (with innate teleportation abilities) knew exactly where to gate to. Remember the Xenian crystals used in the accident? They could have been used as something to hook to.

I mean he dosn't say that.

Ahh. I don't remember the actual quote, although a number of slightly different variations were recorded.

Yeah, he did say 'personal holocaust', IIRC, but that's hardly the same thing as extinction...

Regarding teleportation of various creatures, don't forget that lots of different Xen species teleported during the game - Vortigaunts, and headcrabs I think too. I always figured it was either the resonance cascade plucking them from Xen, or more likely Nihilanth intentionally sending nasty beasts into Black Mesa - cos he definitely did have teleportation abilities. Actually, come to think, he was taking advantage of the res cascade to extend his abilities into our dimension. So there.

But the fauna teleported randomly. Bullsquids dropped onto metal gratings and fell to their deaths. While the Controllers appeared in incredibly inconvenient places for the player - like around objectives. Quite possibly, the Nihilanth sent them intentionally, but since Nihilanth seems to be a really large Controller, wouldn't it make sense if Controllers had personal teleportation abilities?

I think the only reason they can get here is because of the resonance cascade, Angrys hook theory is intriguing to me as it is inline with what I think.

Also, it fits conveniently with the not native to Xen from laidlaw.

Intriguing.
