YES!!! HALO 2 coming to PC

As much as hated the level design, I still wanted a continuation to the Halo story. It's just a problem that Halo 2 will have not been out for about 4 years by the time they finally make it for PC. In fact, I'd say that the speculation is too far fetched. Wait on emulation I guess :/

I didn't like the first one, and from what I've played of the second it didn't seem any better. The general consensus from people who actually like the series is that the first was much better ... so I think I'll pass.

Some of the worst/laziest level design I've ever seen outside of a budget title and extremely repetitive gameplay don't make for a great game. While the vehicle parts were quite fun and there were a few rare moments where the game stood out as being good ... this still has to be the most overrated game in existence. I honestly believe that if it was released for PS2, PC, and X-BOX at the same time no one would still be talking about it. For so long this was the only decent X-BOX exclusive available and people just worshipped it to justify their purchase.

When it comes to console FPS games I'd take Perfect Dark or even Timesplitters any day of the week.

Ah, I remember the old E3 video (2003? I forget) which showed you land in the middle of the battle torn city, past a really cool medical-camp, past some soldiers fighting in thew windows, machine-gunning streets filled with Covenant and then calling in the airstrike on the gun-emplacement. That video really hyped me up for the game. The first couple of levels were good fun, though. The city and the Delta Halo, and the mission as the Arbiter when you go to the Libary and you're on that sky-tram thing.

Ah god, the New Mombasa video. It makes me die a little inside to know that that amazing sequence was cut. And I am indeed excited for this. I really like Halo- what can I say.

Halo single player is ONLY fun in co-op. If there is no co-op for this one it's not worth it.

As much as I hate to say it, I'm interested in a PC version of HALO2. As long as it doesn't crap suck like teh omg same HALO1.

Coop is a must have.

They're stupid if they make the same mistake twice.

OH MY GOSH ARE YOU SERIOUS? IM GONNA GO UPGRADE MY COMPUTER......... for Morrowind: Oblivion.

Halo 3 will not be featured on another Halo, but on Earth where the "Ark" is. The Ark is where all Halos can be controlled and the Covenent want it badly because they want to kill themselves in a "great journey" they no nothing about. I know this because I am a HUGE Halo fan :)

FACT: If you buy Halo 2 on PC then you ARE a terrorist.

Tell us something we don't know :dozey:

Omfg, I can't wait. Man this is going to ruin people's lives because of the online addictivness. I can't wait.

Oh looks like I'm a terrorist.

Cause I'm buying it.
You people have such a silly grudge against Halo.

Hey, I didn't say terrorists were BAD.

GAMING terrorists, that is.

And it's less of a grudge than it is 'actually... this game on PC is ghey'.

I quite enjoy the xbox versions, but mainly because I play co-op and deathmatch with my brother.

Aye, it's a fun game with friends... and online as long as you ignore the 10yr olds constantly screaming.

But seriously, It's like it's a rule to hate Halo if you're a Half-Life fan.
How the hell did Half-Life and Halo end up being enemies? Is it because they both begin with H a l? :|

I don;t have a grudge against Halo, per se, I actually enjoyed the game, even though it was way too damn repetitive in later levels. But it had a damn good multiplayer, and the singleplayer was decent.

The only reason I have beef with Halo 2 is the singleplayer. Everyone was very misled by thinking the story was going to be on earth, and then, whoops, there's another Halo, with more repetitive levels.... Now, I did enjoy the multiplayer, but the singleplayer basically felt like a blow to my intelligence, it almost felt like the developers were saying "eh, they liked the first game so much, we can do it all over again, rehash a lot of the same stuff, and no one will care". And that is honestly pretty insulting.

I'm hoping they redeem themselves with Halo 3, since I honestly have hope for it, after seeing the great Earth levels in the beginning of Halo 2. And so long as they keep expanding and adding on to the MP, while still keeping the core gameplay, well, then I'll be happy.

Why would we want to play some crappy port of an already crappy game?

But I'll play along.

/me smacks Miccy for that last bit

i suppose the demo will tell all :)

That's what Counter-Strike is for. I cannot think of a reason to stray from it and/or Deathmatch for the lackluster sci-fi tripe that is Halo and its universe.

Halo on the xbox was brilliant, loved every minute of it, and the mp aspect was the center of many a night of drunken fun at university, man i loved Halo mp. Then Halo 2 came out...... and i never finished it, because i got bored, so then i played the mp, and cried because it wasn't as good as the original :( , and as amish said, they noobified it and the major skill aspect of the original was lost. Halo 3 had better be something special.

Hold on...you finished Halo 1's single player, but couldn't finish Halo 2? In the game's defense, they really made some strides in cutting down on the repitition and making things more interesting.

I can't see them putting co-op into the PC version. They were too lazy to put online co-op into the X-Box version, so why would they?

I would argue that while they did a little of it, they did not do enough, since the repetitiveness of the first was clearly brought up as a complaint numeroud times. Also, still, the whole "back on another Halo" thing was such a cop-out.

I did the same ...halo2 was just tedious and boring (still havent been able to sinish it) ..the switching back and forth from marine to alien guy wasnt all that much fun. Halo1 got bogged down in interior levels and even though halo 2's indoor levels were more varied, they were just as boring

1 was a bit repetitive but fun as hell. 2 was tedious and had annoying level design.

Halo 1 was superior to no. 2 (which herded the player and gave them less options in combat) in single player.

Halo 1 on Legendary, on the Xbox, is still the best fps there is when it comes to combat. Everything since (and yes, i'm incl. FEAR, HL2, Far Cry, Doom3/Q4 etc etc) has very simple and easy fighting in comparison.

No other singleplayer fps demands as much practise, skill, or quick thinking to master .... not even close.

Combat Evolved :)

But hey - you don't have to listen to me. Go back to your bubble wrapped world of quick saves and easy fps and bury your heads back in the sand! ;)

Yeah pretty much.

Also, Gorgon has kinda jumped the gun here. Bungie's simply hiring people to develop a title on PC. Thats it. Doesn't mean they're porting Halo 2 at all.

Highly debatable. So debatable infact that we've had this debate a bajillion times and no one from either side of the argument has been swayed to adopt the opposing view.

That's a pretty ignorant statement.

Try Raven Shield on Elite, or Unreal Tournament 2004 Insta Gib with godlike bots.

I prefer UT2004 Instagib at 200% speed with Godlike bots.... now THAT takes SKILL and TALENT.....

I just wish I had some of either

Besides, I'm replaying Halo on PC, and it's not so much hard as it's just f*cking cheap in the way you get killed

yeah i've noticed that in both halo games. The only real difference with the A.I is that you do less damage and the A.I does more and shoots faster.

is till think some of the best COOP was in serious sam. sooo much fun ahaha lol

PEACE

Combat Evolved :)

For you maybe. But to the point where the combat evolved is basically played out in the same, repetitive and monotonous environments doesn't really make it combat evolved - it just makes it boring. It’s just a case of the enemies being extremely difficult to kill on Legendary.
You don't use the environment to your advantage or anything like that. It’s just dull.

Well i'm afraid by the second iteration of the title it didn't hold my attention for long enough to complete it.

I don't know. I remember that the environement stayed the same but the number and type of enemies changed, as well as the layout and health (on both sides). Legendary is a fuggin' bitch.

But fi there was one thing that killed Halo for me, it was the repetition. The cut-and-paste level design.

Halo on legendary is nothing more than opponents with higher health and greater accuracy. It's not revolutionary AI. Any game could just increase these AI variables to create a difficult game. However most don't because it's just cheap and stupid. That said I didn't think halo was a bad game, at least 8/10 from me but see sig for more details.

Halo has repetetive level design, can't get much gayer then that and the weapons are all gay.

*waits for some smartass to say "How can weapons and a video game be gay?"*

How the hell do people compare Halo to Half-Life? Half-Life owns it so badly, I can't understand Halo being compared to Half-Life.

You have to use it as much as any other game of this type, more so imo. No other single player fps has made me think about the use cover as much.

As for the AI, I never said it was smart - but it's certainly challenging, and very satisfying (just like Goldene Eye) Good AI isn't important, fun AI is. Take HL2, the AI could be good, but each encounter is so easy that fights are over in seconds. The result, uninspired combat that feels as dated as the originals.

As for the levels being repetitive - this has been exagerated beyond all belief. Yes, some areas were copied and pasted, but not many. Visually Halo certainly isn't as dull and predicatbale as say, FEAR, Doom 3, Quake 4.

Samon said:

Yes, anyone can do this. But to end up with a perfect challenge/balance, and for the result to not be 'cheap', is a very rare thing. This is why Halo is superb. If you die it's because you weren't good enough, not because of 'cheating ai' like in so many other games. There's a huge learning curve, and the game demands and rewards extensive practise - very few single player fps do.

Sure, this is all subjective. I am a huge fps fan, though, and am still waiting for a title to test and engross meas much as Halo (Xbox) did. Far Cry, HL2, Riddick - all lasted about a week on the hardest settings. There was no need to quick thinking, tactics, learning the levels/weapons, and dull AI.They're fun games - but what's happened to the challenge and lastability?? This is what I look for in a fps, and it's non existant in most.

(the reason some people complain about Halo being cheap is because it's hard. There's a big difference)

Note: this is all based on the Xbox version - I didn't like it on the pc :/
