Ok so ive been wanting half-life 2 because my friend has it and i love it, especially portals, so my girlfriend just got me

now my question is this the original i need and if so i can use add-ons like portals and counter strike?

The Episode Pack contains Half Life 2 Episodes 1 and 2.

This means that you don't have Half Life 2. You can get Half Life 2 here, and some of those packages include Counter Strike Source. Portal is a standalone game and not an addon - you can find it here.
