So far, i rate it as Ehhh for the reason that they're mostly meh.

Garys mod is pretty cool but i'm rarely drawn to it.

That's it.

There's some crackers out there, but isolated cases. Still nothing that has blown people away (garry's mod only perhaps). But that's not to say it won't happen, there is huge promise in many WIP mods.

Promising, but I voted Elephant-sized wang, because, well, why not?

yeah, I think the best are still yet to come

bit meh so far
Garry's mod and Minerva are the only ones of excellence and as has been pointed out, those are not even full mods
Dystopia gets an honourable mention for concept but a disappointing execution

Not bad. There are some corkers on the horizon, but few have yet to be released. Garry's mod isn't my scene, but it is definitely fun. I really enjoyed the first MINERVA release, mainly due to the well-mapped island, but the second release was fairly disappointing for me. The indoor mapping wasn't that great, and 'press the button' gameplay gets old fast. Points for the intensity in some sections.

I'm with John on Dystopia.

There's nothing shit hot out there, but that's to be expected. It took a while for HL1 modding to kick off too, and we can only expect a longer incubation period in the world of 8 years later, where we expect more from our games.

I'm actually looking forward to some of those games with real world guns as long as they are real arcady :)

besides that, there are quite a few I'm looking forward to, but I'm skeptical of those that are too ambitious, because of the lag poblems with eternal silence, dystopia, and Empire at war

It feels like to me that most mods are just the same old stuff we had before but with better graphics. I have yet to find something interesting.

The teams doing a little creative work usually falls into problems with a flawed game design.

But then that's the state of the entire industry, and will be as the reservoir of untapped concepts continually gets smaller.

Mods are the part of the industry that can afford to try experimental game design. They got nothing to loose, so why do they keep trying to make games that real developers are doing much better?

I say; think outside the box (tm). Try some crazy ideas out and then I might get interested in it.

Out of all the released mods, none have kept my attention for more than a few days. Troy: Divine Playground holds the record for shittiest credible mod released.

I was asked to take over that mod, I'm kinda glad I didn't :) Never played it though.

It sucks.

Eternal Silence was the only mod released that I found fun.

And if you can even call Minerva a mod, when it's really just a glorified map... not that that's a bad thing.

I dont believe it's out..

while it looks fun, it's not the height of originality

still one of my most anticipated mods though

Looks fun, but I don't know how it will play in a public server...

I've been playing Zombie Master for months and months now.

It's an interesting mod, but not my cup of tea.
