I'm not sure if this has been arranged before, and i don't think it has.

Have you always physically wanted to get your own back on someone, on this site?

Well here's your chance!

I can run a server, but its not dedicated, so it might get too laggy. So first i need someone to host a dedicated server for this large arrangement. If not then i will host, but it might destroy the experience(and melt my router). PM a member that might be worthy for this, also PM/irc/yahoo/email/firefox/what ever, any member that might be interested in getting there own back on another member. But do remember that this is for fun and that any unfinished fights will be finished on the battle field, NOT in another thread(if all goes well).

Secondly, this isn't all just about getting your own back, its like the title suggests, a gathering.

Thirdly, I need your support. If you think this a good idea, say so, and spread the word.

Final note: Don't forget to mention what map you would like to use for the first battle, whether custom or standard, I'm not bothered. I will tally them up when enough people are interested and or we get a dedicated server. I would do a vote on what map, but for obvious reason's there's just to many. But there is a vote on the style, TDM(mods v members, for instance) or DM(free for all). The choice is yours. If all goes well, remember in battle to use your forum name, to save any confusion.

we should just have it where the server name is some political issue, rebels represents the political left, combine represents the political right. Which ever team wins gets the right to claim absolute authority on the matter. Might makes right. It would make the politics forum a lot easier to handle

Although I've only ever seen gunslinger manage to beat Rebels on that (playing as Combine) without using dirty grav-jump tricks.

I'd be down, but hey.. runoff is an awful map.

I used to play a lot more than I do now (haven't had time to play in weeks), I still think I'd be ok.

Oh, and a non-dedicated server would be a big no-no , as would inter-country games, as lag above 90ms makes the game unplayable both movement-wise and physics wise

If you set a time and server, I hope you set it with some reasonable time between the announcement and the start time... I have to work in 3 hours... for 7 hours... I'll be unavailable if the game is held tonight.

Hmm.. thought we might have this problem, as well as time zones. Not sure how to work this out.

All i can think of is ether set a day, sat/sun/mon/whatEver and play for the whole day, or ask polar if we could borrow the server for a week, then join when each of us have the time or feel like playing. Then when all of us have joined, the time you see on your clock will be the time that is used for future games....

Any suggestions?

That would still leave us with lots of different times due to time zones. We should just set aside an entire day. Even then, there wouldn't be much activity while people are at work or school.

Well then, a week end date or something. In the UK, not many people goto work/school sat and sun. If were short a few people, then were short. there just have to join later in the day. All i can do really is keep looking on this site, and see when a majority of people are online, then arl PM everyone saying that the server is running. That all i can think of. Or yahoo/msn/? Any ideas?

That's a good idea. Also we should try and get polar or munro to get a permanent dedi-server for the site users only. So then anyone on the site can join. Munro had a IP for DM, but it doesn't work now. Also we should keep it strictly site users only, so then our spot wont get stolen, like requesting for a password or something.
