2 noober questions

When I Run Map, I keep getting client timed out. I can cancel, then connect. Is this just a bug I got to live with? Just a PITA.

And I'm a noob, yes, and I've read 4 different threads how to do this and watched MNeMiC's vid tutorial, but I can't get the damn water to work right. I made up about the simplest thing I could think of and I get this weird material merging thing going on.

If you could help me with the water problem, I'll be able to sleep tonight and I'd be quite grateful to you.
