7 Mother-Fing Years

I think I was 16 or 17 when I joined.
23 now.

Lurked here for a good while before joining if I recall, so yeah I think I was about 15 when I discovered the place.

Time flies... 15 - 23.
Went through a lot in my time on these forums.
Went through a couple of relationships, got laid, bought my first car, graduated high school, graduated tech school, moved out of my parent's home, got engaged, moved to 2 different states, and dealt with my father passing away.

Was 14 when I joined. I am now 21.

I love you, HL2.net.

Wow, 2004. Age 16 seems so long ago

Funny to see only the old members posting here haha

'08er but lurked in 2007 and wow what an influence you guys have had on me.

12 in 06, now 16, and only noteworthy things I've done:
-Graduated MIDDLE SCHOOL
-Had an almost first real love, crushed, got over it a better man
-Broke out of my social shell and part of that I thank you guys for for teaching me how to act ****ing dumb <3
-4.33 Cumulative GPA so far, looking for 4.5 by year-end
-First 5 on AP Exam I was so sure I was going to fail
-...Still no sex
-Bunch of wasted opportunities for productive nights thanks to games with a lot of you from HL2.net chat, you guys are the best

LOVE YOU HL2.NET NEVER BREAK MY HEART I'LL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU <3

Ha kids. I was 19 when I joined.
I was 20. Oldbrofist.

What a journey it's been. Thinking back on all the things that've happened in the seven years I've been on HL2.net...let me see. When I first came here I was:

- Playing video games

and now I'm:

- Playing video games

Good times.

I've been slowly collapsing in upon myself, becoming a superdense neutron star of syncretised rage, lust, code and glitch.

I still use font tags.

Nearly four years, huh.

I feel like you must have written a Greasemonkey script to take care of that. Either that or the experience of typing out font brackets is now integral to your existence.

I was 15 when I joined this forum, young and innocent, how very different I am now xD It's amazing how much one can change in 6 years :p But yeh I've had my differences with a few of you but I think you are all awesome :D

I was 18, though I lurked for about a year before then. In that time I have:

- Graduated high school
- Nearly got a physics degree.

FML.

I joined in 2004. Which made me.. 14 years old at the time. Holy crap. I mean. I haven't posted all that much in all of that time, but i sure have read a lot of different poop here. I guess you could say that *sniff*. This forum is part o' my family!!!OMFG!!!!111oneone!

I got three degrees. High school, bachelor's, master's. wtf.

I think I have brain damage now.

Impressive man. Congrats!

Thanks, I'm not gonna lie -- it was pretty exhausting. I'm seriously losing my mind now. Earlier tonight, I just made the same exact phone call to my parents twice within 10 minutes because I somehow lost all recollection of ever making the first call.

Because I have headaches so often, I'm seriously under the impression that my brain has gotten too big for my skull. So, I try not to learn anything superfluous.

I mean, I know it probably sounds ridiculous, but, it makes sense... since I don't know how it all works.

Shit, I probably just need eyeglasses. Damn eyestrain.

Was 13 when I joined. I'm 20 now. It's crazy to think that I was so young. So much has happened to me while I was here and since.

Used to be worried about getting a B on my report card and going to high school. Now I'm worried about getting a job. ****ing nuts

I think it's time we started asking the question: what have I ever done for BHC?

come on guys!

What kind of headaches do you get? Migraines? Cluster headaches?

I joined around the same time.

20-27 years old.

In that time I have....
  • Worked a few 'career' jobs
  • Had a few Ex's turn into bloated monsters
  • One of my exotic sportscar designs went into production
  • Learned 95% of what I was told the first 20 years of my life was useless or counter-productive.
  • Stopped being a nice guy (p****) around girls, lost my virginity, became a man slut, found an awesome girl
  • Bought two sports cars that I love!

What kind of headaches do you get? Migraines? Cluster headaches?

I guess, mostly Migraines. It sucks because they last 2 or 3 days before fully wearing off, and they don't respond to ibuprofen.

Pressing on pressure points like my temples and arteries in my neck where I can feel my pulse, it alleviates the pain temporarily.

I have seen significant relief by taking OTC sinus medication yesterday and I feel fine today. I noticed when I gently press on the bridge of my nose, it was very sensitive internally (I guess inflamed). I suppose that's the main culprit and I will need to continue taking the medicine during seasons where pollen is a problem.

I'm sorry, VT2... cluster headaches are brutal. I used to get them all the time in high school.

Is that what it is, you think? Cluster - not migraine?

...Gonna do a search, I am.

experts have suggested that it may be the most painful condition known to medical science.
"Cluster headache is probably the worst pain that humans experience.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_headaches

No, my headaches are not that bad. It's quite tolerable, just slightly painful and persistent.

Honestly, I think for me, there are multiple causes.

Eyestrain - using a computer monitor all day, and my vision has become impaired with age (I need glasses and I'm often straining to focus.)
Sinus headaches
irregular sleeping habits

In Dec 2003 I was 14 years old and a freshman in high school.

In Oct 2010 I am 21 and a senior at uni. In the almost 7 years between these I lost my virginity, smoked pot for the first time, drank for the first time, smoked cigarettes for three years before quitting, contributed to numerous hl2 mods, and become a real person. I've been through my mother and several friends dying. I've gone from mostly internet-clueless, /b/tard, to goon and redditor... and I've posted almost 22,000 times.

It's been real, yall. I spend a lot of time on a lot of different websites, but this is the only one that truly feels like home.

Been here for over six years, damn. Now I feel bad for not posting much anymore.

EDIT: Or is it 4? I think it was four. '06 sounds much more likely. But still!

DOUBLE EDIT: okay, **** me, it's been about five.

I've gone from mostly internet-clueless, /b/tard, to goon and redditor.

'Redditors' annoy me. They present themselves as the master race of the internet, while they are simply users of a linkdump site.

I resent that blanket statement. You don't know who you are dealing with. I will destroy you with internet.

I only post every month or two now, but my post count is still at about 2 posts per day.

In other news, and news that is just as amazing, I just left O2 (the phone network) after being with them for 9 years. I hope they don't say next year "...and for all our customers who have been with us since the start, 10 years ago, have a nice new car". That would make me a sad baby.

Thank you hl2.net and O2 for getting me through puberty.

I was 18 back then.
Since, I finished school, took a year out working and travelling, went to University, got a B.Sci, then a M.Res. Also made lots of new friends, met my girlfriend and travelled some more. Good times.

I haven't posted her for a while, but I like this topic even though I've posted on it before.

But yes since joining I have:

-Passed my GCSEs, ****ed up my A-Levels, been through three years of a degree and ****ed that up too, discovered that I'd rather kill myself than live a life as a routine robot and hence, didn't need my education anymore.
-Discovered the amazing power that music has and fell in love with many bands.
-Learnt and discovered a talent for playing the guitar and song writing, formed a band and gigged with them for three years, only now are we starting to get somewhere.
-Played every venue in Manchester including the Ritz and the Academy.
-Had a song I wrote played on the radio three times.
-I left karate after 14 years for music.
-Discovered an interest in running.
-Got a driving license and a car.
-Beat my anxiety disorder (kinda)
-Went from Agnostic, to Agnostic bordering Atheist to Christian (no rants, I've heard it all before from you lot :p)
-Met and fell in love with my absolutely amazing girlfriend ^^
-Kissed for the first time
-Lost my virginity
-Lost a lot of friends
-Became a completely different person to who I was when I first joined essentially, its been a long time D:

testchar

edit: holy F, 6 years! I lurk alot, but still love this place.

Thanks No Limit, you make me feel old again. 24 in only a few months, but hey 25 means I get a reduced insurance rate. HOLLA!

I feel like hl2.net is my online retirement home.
I just sit in the corner full of tubes and pissing into a bag.

4 years for me in february...this place seemed to have slowed down quite a bit since I joined but that's normal. Still enjoy you a$$holes.
