A few Garry's mod questions...

Well.. i have Gmod 9 and Counter-Strike Source (and steam) - but i havn't played Gmod yet...

Turns out that the CS:S i got from a friend isnt legit (its just all the CS:S files that was copied onto a pc).. but ive been trying to get myself a legit CS:S but it is really 'rare' here and nobody has the real one, also some of the shop dont have it. Can i play Gmod with the CS:S i have? or do i have to buy a real one (which is really hard) ???

Quick reply would be appreciated... cause im really keen to playing Gmod

you can't get a 'real' CS:S from anyone. you buy it off steam or from a shop.
you need to buy the real CS:S (and HL2 and HL2DM if you don't already have them) to play GMod 9.
any addons you download will probably be incompatible with GMod 9.

by 'real'... i meant one that isnt pirated or copied.

CS:S, HL2 AND HL2 DM... do i need ALL of them? or just one? (cause all of them has the source engin, right?)

For GMod 10 one (or more) of these are required.

For GMod 9, the minimum needed is CSS, IIRC.

no - i still dont have CS:S - but saw a few links and pics in the web about maps and models that can be uploaded onto Gmod. Can i upload any model and map i find onto Gmod 9 or 10? or only 10? because i can upload diffenrent models onto Half life 2, right?

I'd say you can do it with both, but you'll probably need to add the models to spawnlists if they don't come with any.

So let me get this straight, I HAVE to have all three games, not just the one? I have HL2 DM and the HL2 Demo which I downloaded ages ago but I don't have the full game of HL2 (except on Xbox) and I don't have CS:S. I didn't really see why I'd need CS:S as Gmod was a HL2: DM mod....but I could be wrong and I feel like I am....

Edit: I also have Ep1 if that helps at all...?

you can get away with not having CS:S by deleting a specific folder, but you need HL2 and HL2DM. the demo won't do and Episode 1 content doesn't matter.

@Mesz if octavio is right and there is a way to get GMod9 going without CS:S then you are fine as both HL2DM and Ep1 come with the Source SDK.
