Hi all...
Since there is all this fuss about Vivendi holding back HL2, and Valve wanting to release it as soon as possible, i would just like to know how many BIG HL2 fans is out there...

I am (jugding from the vidios n' all) already a big fan, and if HL2 is as great as it looks, I'm going to buy it through steam first, and then buy the box... It's a whole lot of money, but if most people are like this, it wouldn't be such a great problem.

EDIT: In some effort to contribute positively to the community as required by my probation officer, I personally think VUG would be absolutely insane to delay HL2, because the community already dislikes them - the whole "OMG, they're a large corporation, they must be money-grubbing bastards" thing, and because they don't have HL2 on our doorsteps along with the morning paper. Also, they're apparently in the hole money-wise, and whatever the reason, the sales of HL2 will help them a lot, even with the loss due to sales via Steam.

The boxed version and the steam version come out at the same time. I'm buying the boxed version because I only have net access around Christmas, Easter and Summer (when I'm home from Uni).

And since I'm quite sure no one on steam will get it before it hits stores I don't see a problem.

I got the ATI coucher which i used for a steam HL2.

Im also buying the CE and book.

Well... Some of you mention that the boxed version and the steam version will be released at the same time. That is what Vivendi wants, but Valve would like to release it straight away, and i'm just trying to find out how many would get the boxed version, if Valve releases before Vivendi so i know if Vivendi actually has anything to fear.
