A new Killbox?

If you guys who play HL2dm would like to play on a new Killbox type of map, how would it be? I want to make a new kill box type map but there are so many that are the same, so I want to make something different. I'm getting tired of the same killbox being remade over and over, I think it's time for a new type of map. I cannot think of anything though. Do you guys have any ideas for a new arena/killbox type map?
 
Maybe one that doesn't look like shit.

i.e. don't use the dev textures.
 
I think it would be cool to somehow have a very nice detailed map, but still play like a killbox. No idea what, but still obviously square, but not just a cube. Hmmmm.. That would be very hard for me though. I have one idea that just popped in my head but it would be very hard to make, especially for me since I'm a new mapper.

Yea I have a good idea. It's not easy though. Let me google some stuff and maybe draw something down on paper.
 
I'm not a particular fan of playing on "killbox" maps. Killboxes are the lowest form of expression. I'd equate it to a child stacking wooden letter blocks on carpet, only ever getting three blocks high before the thing falls over. There's only so much you can do with that method. Why not get more complex than that? One idea I heard was this CS cubic map where there were multiple rooms people could move between (the rooms were connected on the sides as well as top and bottom). I don't think it would be too hard for a mapping newbie to do it, you could have more people in it, and there's way more potential for interesting dynamics.

Are "dev textures" the only ones available to people without consulting an outside source or something?
 
I been trying to get custom textures to work all day with no luck. I will figure it out eventually then I can have so many more opportunities and possibilities for making some new maps, and they will look a lot better too.
 
Why not think vertically? A kill rectangle, tall, with criss-crossing platforms and bounce pads.

And place crossbow at the very top.
 
Because some jerk always camps with the crossbow at the top spawnpoint.
