What??? Really.... what?!? What kind of society do we live in when a convicted murdered can get day release to make a friggin movie that makes them internationally famous? It would be bad enough if it were a documentary with them interviewed, but this is an artistic, fictional movie. I despair at news stories like this.

Crimespoilation! At least its not cannibals.

He isn't the first criminal to profit from fame, and he won't be the last. The question is how does his role effect the film? Is the movie using a murderer in a specific way to say something meaningful? or is he just there to create media controversy to get people to watch? Though that in itself is one of the major questions surrounding a lot of reality TV, so maybe its supposed to be meta. It's often hard to understand the intentions of filmmakers, and the line between art and exploitation can be pretty blurry.

Indeed, it does seem to be the exploitation-controversy combo. Apparently the Director actually wanted him in his last movie, but couldn't get the permits to allow it. Somehow he managed to get it this time round. The first film would have had more meta, as it was a kind of expose on the Mafia crime scene.

I'm gonna go shoot up my local mall now, then write a script for a sci-fi epic with a comedy aspect, then produce it from behind bars and make my millions! Bwahahaaaaaa.
