A Song of Ice And Fire thread - REDUX!

Spoilers for books 2-3:

When Roose Bolton bastard son, Ramsay, betrayed the other northmen outside of Winterfell and destroyed their army, was he acting on his own, or by orders from his father? I know Roose betrayed the Starks in book three, but had he sided with the Lannisters already in book two?

@Monkey:

To memory, no. But Ramsay's actions do seem to conveniently sync up with Roose's goals.

ADWD MAJOR spoilers:
So, do you think is Aegon real or fake? Targaryen, Blackfyre, or Brightflame?

@Monkey:

To memory, no. But Ramsay's actions do seem to conveniently sync up with Roose's goals.
But he had to have had his father's support, no? I understand that he wanted to get revenge on the Starks, but there's no way he could get 600 Bolton bannermen with him if the move hadn't been sanctioned by Roose? Especially considering Ramsay was loathed everywhere, even in the Dreadfort. I couldn't wrap my head around it when reading book 2, but it made more sense in book 3, when it turned out that whole of house Bolton had turned its cloak.
