About Steam Packs

I was looking at the Purchase options and saw that people who buy 'Gold' via steam get much much more than those who buy the Collectors edition..

Now all that extra stuff is kinda making me want to buy the Gold package over steam, but I have a question:

I live in Iceland (Europe) and they say you get a bunch of Posters, Hats and books, and a soundtrack CD, which is the main reason I want to buy over Steam.. How will I get all this stuff?? via mail? who pays the shipping fee?? (ok I know I'll pay ).. how will this be handled? And will I even be able to purchase over steam, since I live in a foreign country?

Oh and one other thing. If I buy over steam, I don't get a CD or DVD.. so will I have to re-download the game every time I format my hard drive, or will I be able to burn the downloaded file to a CD or sumthin' like that??

Valve will just mail them to you and there will be a shipping fee. And yes, you'll be able to buy over Steam.

You can burn the game Cache files to a CD or DVD.

you get it via mail ......... eventully probally a few days and yes you can burn the cache files on a cd/dvd so you dont have to download them agaim after a format

1.) Yes you will have to pay for S&H.
2.) It will be handled by the people who handle parcels.
3.) You will be able to purchase the game via steam from Iceland.
4.) You can backup the GCF (game cache files) on disk drive(s). I'm not 100% sure if all the cache file are small enough to be burned on a CD. You can definatly back them up on a DVD.

What the others said and:

Shipping from the US would probably be about 20$ normally. Valve will earn more money on the gold edition. So that might reduce shipping a bit.

Furthermore the parcel companies might give them a discount if they ship it together.

I hope for 5-10$ shipping, but it's, according to Lombardi, all being revealed next week, i hope tomorrow

im sure that there is a thread about using winrar, or winzip to make the files smaller, and then burn onto 1 cd per file, or wotever

I also have a quistion, why aren't we allowed to chose between different things, like I don't care about the shirt or hats, i want the stuffed headcrab, who here would rather like to have a stuffed headcrab than a shirt or hat?

Damn right...I would. I think I'm going to get the CE edition though....I can't be bothered with the extras...

You understand correctly. I don't think stuffed headcrabs are on the menu. MMmmmmm, stuffed headcrabs. Maybe with a little garlic butter. :dork:
