Allready stuck in the very beginning! Help!

I can hardly belief it myself. What am I missing here?
I am in the first room after the chat with barney at the very start of the game. He is telling me to get out of the window. After doing so I am in place with a door ajar. It won't open and I am stuck!
What am I to do?

Well first, I would suggest giving the game to a friend cause it looks like you're in for a world of hurt.

To directly answer your question: Hit "E" to open doors; activate switches, valves, buttons, levers; pick up objects; get health/power from wall dispensers; and many more.
